Same as me, I did laugh but it also disappoints me knowing they did a a lot of research on the game and got it wrong. The Airforce Cross is awarded for flying under non combat conditions.

“… courage or devotion to duty whilst flying though not in active operation against the enemy.”
Wing-walkers, bloody show-offs!

Ohh yeah!
20mins review:
The new landscape just looks brilliant!
The Ai is much nicer to fight now, no frutsrating one hit-PK anymore.
Really, an anemy spad managed to hit al kind of my plane without mee being wounded or the engines dead.
The enemy is not running away for hours anymore.
The fly-now option doesnt offer much to at the moment, but I like to see it improved with the next patches.
Edit:
First impressions on the camel and the Dr.1.
After a few quick airbattles, I think there is some time needed to really master those beasts :roflmao:
Most difficult planes in the sim now.
After some more testing, the Camel seems to be easier for me to fly than the Dr.1, but I still need to be more careful. Bith need much ruddder for good turning and they perform superb slow speed turns. But sometimes your too slow
Here I lost lift after some hard manouvres and dropped down from 10meters.
At least I survived.
Mine seems to lock up when starting a mission from the ground.
Its ok in the air
Anyone any ideas ?
Pish computer? Can’t hack the detail down on the ground.
Only guessing
Does it meet the games requirements?
Try turning down the detail to bare minimum and see if that works first.

Love the Camel and the Dr1 but really find them a challenge to fly and fight with.
Yes they are a challange But these are the most fun rides in game now. I just love them.
Its really about getting a fealing for the rudder and they turn on a dime.
Here are two single-player missions for training made with the quickmission-builder:
In first mission you fly a lonely Camel against a DFW covered by two Albatros D5.
Second mission you fly lonely Dr.1 against Breguet covered by two NP28.
And here a multiplayer mission:
2 Camels vs. 2 Dr.1.
Thats much tougher, whatever side you are flying.
Looks like the latest patch is a success so far. I’m just starting 7 days leave so I’m looking forward to getting stuck in to a campaign.
I’m off to the store to buy the Camel and DR1 when I’ve finished this post!
Had a quick blast in the Quick FLy mission last night - great fun and a good addition.
Thanks for the missions Paf, will give them a try. Fancy some online flying in the next few days?
Cheers,
WB.
It might seem like a daft question but how do I unlock the DR1 and Camel ?
Phil you have to go to the ROF store and pay for them, once paid they will be unlocked in the game automatically.
http://riseofflight.com/en/store/planes
$7.62 for each
If you don’t buy them you will still see them flying around by the AI, you are technically buying the cockpits.
hope this helps

Ahhh I see thanks for that Splash
Wow, after getting used more and more to the Camel and DR.1 im getting the fealing of being unbeatable in these (against AI ofcourse :D). Mainlesson I have learnt, use rudder even before thinking to move the stick In both planes its absolutely necessary to enter every turn with a good feal of rudder. Once your in the turn you can pull back the stick softly more and more and until youll get dizzy
One problem in the Camel still remaining besides poor visibility:
Often the german planes do lefthandturns to escape. Because they are slower I often have to blip the engine while turning left. Now when in a real slow fight letting the blip off while in a left turn, gives a strong boost to the engine which puts my nose up and my plane wants to stall. There is a lot of fealing needed. And I don’t like the stalls in the Camel
Mhhh, Camel is a real Ace-Maker
OK, I finally got it (on offer in PC World.
Got to admit it looks the dog’s do-da’s, and the fighting is up close and personal
Looking forward to your EAF skins Chris!
Get it in early is my motto, sorry mate
Didn’t Camels fly in Mesopotamia or somewhere like that in Africa?
I always thought that the Camel had a desert sandy-coloured skin.
Too much reading Biggles probably yes
