Those of us who have got it can maybe start flying together, our friends 22GCT have got a server set up which we can use and fly with and against our friends over there.
I used their server last night and had a lag free experience and came across other IL2 pilots and had a good time, which would have been better with some TS banter.
Nice Meako, I’ll be trying out RoF online next (just tidying up some stuff at the mo) and looking for info ta mate. Will find out how to make my singleplayer missions into coop mode. Looking forward to that, it’s fairly amazing even in singleplayer. If you want the real feeling of flight chaps you must get this one you should fly over Arras it’s jewel-like in the morning sun. At dawn even, stylish Frenchies

I have ROF since a couple of weeks, as I bought the US release. Been flying a lot on my own in campaign/single missions but looking forward to flying with you online.
Downloaded it yesterday and played it a bit…
Very nice game , good immersion. The steering is a bit awkward at first. Very difficult to keep the thing stable when firing. Targets dance around in front of the crosshair:p but then again an Albatross wasn’t a Spit;)
So, after somewhat more practice, I’d be happy to join u guys online
Thanks Meako, so currently we do not have a two seater available, thats a shame. I asked because in Mings oil paintings I can see three two-seaters and they have ‘in-game labels’ on just like the labels when flying IL2 online - i thought they were human piloted.
Frank’s the RoF-bit moderator at the Aerosoft forums, nice bloke
Two seaters are in there yes Classic but not flyable yet
The icons system is exactly like Il-2’s version, when I fly a singleplayer mission I see the icon ‘Ming 19 Squadron RFC’ type of thing on my plane so we’ll be able to ID everyone in the furball. Eventually
Tried mp-dogfight yesterday for the first time, it worked ok first time and the people in are good fun. Not much variety and no respawning, have to wait until the mission ends. Spectator mode is good though
Had to fly Axis cos no engine management needed for their planes
It’s all topsy-turvy we’re in the (mostly) superior planes, someone in an SE5a was booming and zooming the German crates flat-turning below
I agree the SE5a is like our 109, if flown correctly can be dominant and control the fight, the Albatross is a lovely aircraft but outclassed by its present opponents except the little used Nieuport 17.
Multiplayer is clearly still a WIP but fun all the same, i must admit so far i have been unable to claim a kill in mp.
Well I took the plunge and downloaded it from D2D. £24 is better than
£40ish but I’m still not sure its good VFM. Time will tell I suppose.
Having seen 2 SE5a replicas at a local airshow yesterday I’m about to d/l the SE5a as well - although some of the posts I’m reading about it’s engine failing in the dive are putting me off a bit.
I’m doing the training missions to re-familiarise myself with the game.
Anyone noticed some familiar names in the credits?
I’ve just started playing again after a while and it is getting better with every patch.
I have 2 pilots on the go, x1 german flying the Albatross and an Englishmen (Dik Splash) flying the SE5A
Scores on the doors
SE5a:- 4 missions, 4 kills, 3 Artillery pieces 1 DSC & 1 AFC
Albatross:- 2 missions, 5 kills, 1 Iron Cross and a badge of combat (not sure what it is)
Must try online soon, looks like my update to Win 7 is on hold till my pilots are KIA/MIA.
I played it alot the last weeks, I just love the feeling of flight in this sim.
Makes it abit strange when flying Il2 again :o
I had no time this weekend but Im looking forward for some online-fun this week.
My careers till now:
Pfalz D.III - ended with the dead of pilot after 11 missions; 6 kills; pilots badge, iron cross 2 &1
Fokker D.VII - ended with end of war with total 14 missions; 8 Kills; pilots badge, iron cross 2 &1, Hindenburg Cross
My actual Campaign is with S.E5a where I just flown one mission, shot down a Pfalz D.XII and been awarded the Airforce Cross for “… courage or devotion to duty whilst flying though not in active operation against the enemy.”:roflmao:
