Im going to wait a little while before making my mind up
89,99 for early access to play beta tester!!!
hmmmm!!! interesting!
Don’t know if they are crazy or if it’s crazy to not support my favorite hobby…!
PS would also give TeamFusion’s next Clod patch a go…!
Would love to Jimmi…but CloD is a stuttry bag o crap for me, shows a constant 60fps but stutters when I look around…
Try Bandicam Puff! FOr me worked great!

I think it is less beta than the usual.
$50 for basic access or $90 for earlier access. Just an excuse to get involved earlier than the rest of us and also supports the development of future development for it.
$50 for a Sim is a fair price.
From the preview videos I’ve seen and what I know of RoF, the product looks good enough and if the Eastern front has some interest for you then BoS is the one.
It doesn’t hold much interest for me. I had IL2 from the beginning, starting with the demo. But I never got seriously into it until Forgotten Battles and the introduction on the Hurricane.
So will probably wait until it is more established before jumping in.
Would be interested to know how much more (ROF) or less CLOD) complex it is. They still have to prove they offer something more than ROF. Gotten used to CLOD.
I’ll try and support them by getting the premium edition but doubt I’ll have the time to be a beta tester while flying all the IL2, Cod and Rof goodies. As the retail version is not scheduled till Spring 2014, I wonder if there will be online servers starting in Autumn 2013 for all the Premium buyers to fly against each other or will it an offline affair? I’ll have to ask over there…
It’s early access you’re paying for, the privilege of being one of the first to get to start playing, no need to join the beta.
I’d imagine they already have a few beta testers already.
$50 for the basic early access is not unreasonable IMO, £32.50/€37.66 is what I’d expect to pay for a game these days.
XBox/PS3 games are nearer €50. Most PC games are priced at the same level on release.
Also RoF is quite complex, more than you’d imagine.
Just because the aircraft controls are relatively simple, the actual FM/DM is very advanced. As advanced as CoD.
BoS will be the same just no clickable cockpit.
Plus if BoS follows the RoF model the basic game will become F2P and pay for extra’s. I like that pricing model.
For example with RoF, if you’re a MVR fan you can play out his career in Jasta11 for around €12.
Am sorely tempted (despite knowing I wont actually get around to playing it that much), but:
- The trailer looks like a Michael Bay film which is a bit depressing for what is sold as a ‘proper’ flight sim
- The ‘no AI but we included an unnecessary Fw 190’ decision rankles; Il2 had great extras in terms of object and aircraft to add life
- Cannot put my finger on it, but something is making me a bit sceptical about it…
Probably should vote with feet and get it (or not) but the last few developer updates have made me a bit wary of the approach
Thanks Brigs and hello again Ed Baz and I thought we’d broke your PC and you were out looking for us.
I’ve trawled through the Pre order thread, with the same sceptical mind but I’m a sucker for eye candy and new toys so I’ve jumped on the Premium bandwagon as Autumn is just around the corner
Go get it and I’m sure we’ll find the time to fly it!!
I’m seriously itching to get it but I take it that it is a digital download? I don’t even have a paypal account as I’ve always been a cash and CD man ( no chinese dvd-seller jokes please ) but it looks like I will have to go down the digital route if I want this game. To be honest it’s the digital download bit I don’t like so I’m still kind of stuck on the fence
Its the future I guess Charlie, especially with fibre connection nowadays. I used a credit card instead of paypal.
I have pre-ordered, as I want to support the developers and I like the trailers I’ve seen.
I can’t understand why they’ve used that awful CGI and not used in game footage. It does make me a bit sceptical, but I do like the jump in early stuff. I’m already in for three games in this way now and think its the future of making sure decent PC games get launched.
I know I’ll pre-order. I do like flying over the frozen wastes.

Moment of madness late last night in the heat…ordered the Premium Edition
Nearly did the same myself last night too. But pulled back at the last moment and decided to wait for a little longer before I commit.
Took the plunge and pre-ordered.
Trailer is a bit ‘Red Tails’ but night lighting and atmospherics look stellar on some of those other vids. Plus RoF physics & damage model mated/upgraded to WW2 planes - what’s not to like??
Plus - Seems to be on schedule and working to achievable deadlines. They announced this when? Dec 2012. In that time, new theatre, playable alpha, etc etc for 2014 release. No developer updates of ‘OKW numberplates’ or ‘German rolling stock’ screenies unlike ‘ahem’ Sim-X…
More likely we might get fantastic Western Europe, Med add-ons before we are pushing up the daisies.
Definitely worth a punt.
Oh well Skip I buried my online transaction fears and pre-ordered, albeit on the Mrs’ credit card.
Good for you mate, looks like we’ll have a lads in with us
Update
Bonus for Pre orders up to the 1st September
