And not only Luthier, Oleg was also supporting this.
Me too…
“Who will ever employ him now?”
Nope nobody!
Well, I hoped he can make it this time and pledged. But already the kickstarter-campaign made me believe this won’t go as planned.
I had almost totally forgotten about this sim, and with the current schedule I’ll probably forget about it again before it’s here.
Did those of you that pledged pay anything up front, or only promise to buy when it’s finished?
Anyway, I hope this leads to something eventually, but I rather wait a little longer and get something finished (with additional content added hopefully) then have something rushed that is broken and not fixed.
This is what I think about DCS
The news about it are quite dissapointing to me.
Now its down to a P51-Key and the map. And guess what, I already own the P51 …
So whats left is a map that makes absolutely no sense content wise.
I guess that was my last time backing something.
well p51 FM is wonderful a
and
Fw190 is due this August…
in the meantime i stick to il2 and Clod…
I was looking forward to add another WW2 bird to my DCS collection and now I get another P51.
The Mustang is a great model but I never liked the plane itself very much and was looking much more forward for the Dora or Spitfire…
Good news, ED changed the backers selection. Now you can select the plane you want and you are not bound to the Mustang, very good move!
Good news indeed
Is this project dead?
Not at all, the Spitfire is due for release soon and the Normandy map is meant to come out in a few months too. Work is progressing pretty fast, the third party developers are making a number of aircraft for WW2 as well.
Thanks! This is awesome
i’m surpsised on how this project is understimated from the EAF community, i’m really looking forward to see this project finally released.
The project isn’t understimate, more of us have DCS inside, simply there isn’t something like SOW, a dinamic campaign and there are few piston planes now. We are waiting for the Normandy map, and more planes, like Spit or others.
There is a dynamic campaign - Operation Blue Flag, it’s just no one from EAF plays it. It is modern stuff, but I think it may have the F-86 in it. It has the helicopters.
Sir, check out the sticky in here for more info.
OD, I mean there isn’t a dinamic campaign with pistons planes. The P-51 is not enough, I want more allied choices to fly.
I would be nice it the logfile on the server would at least dump the same information as Il-2 1946 did. That would enable the possibility of a SEOW type campaign.
I really miss the tactical and strategic element.
But lets see what happens when the map arrive.
I’m sure, once the Normandy Map and more aircraft are available, that the Operation Blue Flag concept will be developed for piston engined aircraft. The added bonus is the inclusion of Combined Arms - allowing for the inclusion of ground units in the campaign. As things stand with DCS at the moment it is possible to use ground forces to capture objectives and perform a range of missions. It’s not the most advanced module out there, and it is not without its flaws, but the suggestion is that this will be carried into the WW2 theatre.
There is also TacView for DCS, which allows you to review all actions carried out during a sortie. I believe that it might be used as a form of TOPHAT on some servers - with some information controlled depending on assets available.
There is a lot of potential in DCS and it is being continuously developed by Eagle Dynamics, TFC and third parties. The P-51D is not enough, as things, stand, but the Fw190 and Bf109K are impressive examples of what can be done with the Sim. I find it far more of an immersive experience than Battle of Stalingrad, and it takes a lot more time and patience to learn. I find that more rewarding (long-term) than something that I can just pick up and use straight out of the box.
Yes OD is right!
