DCS WWII: Europe 1944

less than 7 grand and a B17 is on the menu with a chunk of Southern England

EDIT - my bad, its a Me262

B17? or Me262?

Me262, believe the B17 went out to $200,000 plus

So who pledged? I didn’t. But I’ll get the game if EAF does. :stuck_out_tongue:

I did. Hoping for DCS-quality WWII fighters. Already enjoying the P51, a lot.

I did.

I did. In the end its great to have two WW2 sims on the horizon.

Me too!

Glad to hear many people believe in the game - I surely do as well but I’ll wait to see if they will release any fighter-bombers and not just pure fighters except for the P47, once the game, if the game, ever comes out. Then I’ll probably join the bandwagon once I can finally move some mud around.

My main interest is the Spitfire IX and hopefully flying online with EAF. Did anyone go for the Alpha release?

Nepe and others, are some of you flying the P51 online, any good?

I read that the Spit was free like the SU-25T in DCS? That’s really the only aircraft im interested in atm of the current pack.

I pledged $50 to get in with the Alpha version. I’m looking forward to it although I have reservations with Luthiers involvement. I felt the KS campaign was a bit haphazard and very amateurish but I think the saving grace will be the DCS lineage. As for the WW2 Normandy setting, I think it will turn out to be more of a study sim on the individual aircraft rather than an in depth campaign with lots going on. Time will tell though.

I’m currently learning to fly the P51. So far though I haven’t got off the ground. I’ve spent a bit of time going through the first training missions to familiarise myself with the cockpit and getting my HOTAS set-up the way I like it. I’m looking forward to getting airborne and I hope the flight model feels a bit more realistic than the “on rails” feeling I had with LOMAC in the early days.

Ultimately I’d love to see DCS:WW2 give me a rocket firing Typhoon over the Falaise Gap. Flight Sim nirvana!

Then maybe DCS:WW2 Malta and the Med. Yum.

DCS, CoD, BoS, RoF: I think combat flight simming is looking a bit more healthy that it has for a while. I just need to find more hours in a day and more days in a week!

WB.

Sounds like fun getting into a proper sim, interested to know how the 51 “feels” up in the air compared to CoD, when you get there.

Same as WB…
Going in it slowly slowly because I do not want to burn steps in a such well done thing;)

Well, maybe I’m just one of those that take “difficult” for realistic…but you have a 1650 hp motor in front of you, surely it can’t be as easy as in CoD, where you just slam the throttle forward to take off?. Try that in DCS…

I seem to feel the power of the Merlin on take-off, you feel the need for aileron corrections for torque at the proper speed, you can easily oversteer and make a ground loop.

In CoD I can do a 3-pointer almost every time, here you need to be much more careful with the throttle and stick.

In combat it’s very easy to stall when pulling G’s, you need to play with your settings to find the correct curve for you.

I have no doubt, we will get very nice detailed warbirds to fly. And that is why I pledged. I don’t think we will get that much of a game with an atmospheric environment, campaign and sort of things, but we will see. I am pretty sure I will have fun with DCS:WW2 and BOS.
Someone knows about possibilities of Multiplayer in DCS:World? I never flew online till now.

Multiplayer in DCS World is good, the mission designer is very powerful. There are a few good servers with plenty of action, you can also play as ground commander and direct troops and aircraft, and drive tanks, and act as forward observer. Note that the only type of missions that I have played online with the 51 is ground attack and dogfights servers, so Im no expert.

And of course there’s nothing like an SEOW.

Just seen on SimHq that Luthier and RRG have been dropped and that ED are taking over the dev of the addon.

Looks like it’ll be released in a series of aircraft, then the map.

As a basic outline, here are our current development intentions:

August 2014 – Fw 190 D-9 Dora
October 2014 - BF-109K
December 2014- Spitfire IX
March 2015 - P-47D-28
May 2015 - Normandy Map with period AI units
Other features like the Me.262A-1 and AI-only B-17G are also in development we but do not have a delivery data estimate at this time until these other features are further along.

have been dropped”?

good news I think, I was fed up with Luthier’s lack of communication. If I supported DCS:WWII was because of ED, not because of Luthier.

Yep agree totally.
He’s not got such a good rep, that man.

Who will ever employ him now?
