I would like to gather some stats from rest of europe on what kind of figures you get if you go to http://www.bredbandskollen.se/ and click the button “STARTA MÄTNINGEN”. That will start a bandwith measurment where it first sends you files and your PC then sends files back, then you get a report on the speed.
For example, here in Vilhelmina, using my laptop and WLAN, I get:
Ta emot filer: 18.45 Mbit/s (recieveing files, aka download speed)
Skicka filer: 16.83 Mbit/s (sending files, aka upload speed)
Svarstid: 10 ms (answer time - ping)
To get the answer time, you might need to pick one of the speeds in the drop down meny below (near Värdera).
Thank you Bear. Looks like you have ADSL of some kind?
I might add that on the server (this server!) I got something like 25 Mbit/s down and 50+ Mbit up when I tried earlier. Think the down was limited both by hardware (old, slow computer) and the fact that I was connected to it on remote desktop.
Part of the reason I ask you to do this is to get an idea wether the test beeing against swedish servers seems to make a big difference.
Pick one of the network types under VÄRDERA (evaluate), you can choose between Fiber, ADSL, cable-TV and mobile. When you have picked that it should show.
I have 7.25Mbit down/ 4.22Mbit up
Well there is a way’s over the Pond and back:p
still fairly decent results I have Cable 20mbps dl speed. I get 19.64mbps and 4.53 up on this American Server to Atlanta. http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/
That’s good speed Osprey! Ping is probably a bit higher for you though, but it’s still probably better then mine is when I’m using the mobile connection.
ETA: I get 4.42 down and 4.37 up to Atlanta on the link you posted. Download was a bit faster to NY.
Using different tests will provide different results.
The result of the test tells about ISP’s connection to the rest of the country and to the countrys hub (connection to the rest of the word). Some contries have more than one hub.
