Hi Chaps, very interested in the purchasing the map but would really like some advice as I have 2.0 4.5 9.01.5.6 Beta/Alpha world?
I think?
Also as I am guessing that almost everybody in the EAF will be buying the map at some point, should we get the same?
What do you think OD?
You will need DCS 2.0 once this is released. That’s the build that can support multiple maps, so regardless of whether you have the NTTR map you will be able to fly in 2.0 if you have Normandy.
I will be pre-ordering to get the savings and include the assets. Seems daft for us to go for WW2 and not have any of the WW2 assets included. It’ll cost $47.99, I believe, on pre-order and $57.99 after as a bundle. Seeing as this is my main hobby these days I am happy to pay that to keep it going.
1.5 is due to be replaced with 2.5 at some point in Q1 of 2017/18 - though it was due out before Christmas so can take that with a pinch of salt for now. The Strait of Hormuz map is also due out this year as well, so they’re really going to want to get DCS into a unified state ASAP really.
The days of buying a standalone game with everything finished is a thing of the past. Those where simpler days for virtual pilots, but harder on the financing of the developers. It was probably that issue that killed Cliffs of Dover.
I read and hear a lot of cirque. We might not like it, some might fight it, but I believe that this business model is here to stay.
The Pro of that business model have been a continual commitment of the developers since they can see a continual stream of money to feed themselves and their families. The bad for are that we are hanging in suspense with the feeling that a Sim is half-finished. My experience with the community updates for IL2-1946 and HSFX just shows that the sim community have an unending hunger for improvements in our favorite sims.
From a western standpoint I can understand the critique against the banning, but from my experience with Russians and the need to keep a positive tone around their products the ax will fall sooner than we are used to here in the Western Europe. In my experience the Russian culture is a lot different from what we see in EU. Our way of thinking/acting might look just as weird to them as they are to us.
When that is said, I believe that arguing against their business model is a fools errand. It have been their cornerstone for the “DCS world” from the start, and it works for them or they wouldn’t have been here today.
I am sure DCS have informed the users that complaint about the business model wont be accepted on the DCS forum. But if people want to complain there are always somewhere to do it.
When that is said and done, I haven’t seen any banning of people complaining about problems with the products and should we be sufficiently dissatisfied we always have the ability to stop using their product.
I’ll seriously consider buying the Combined Arms as well…as long as I can tank fight in Normandy and the assets support that game mode…I loves my Firefly
I have CA, but have never actually used it!
I have CA, I don’t use it at the moment as it doesn’t work with VR (hopefully they will fix this!). When I have used it I enjoyed it though. Wait for the sales and you can get it pretty cheap.
Absolutely will buy this
I played with CA long ago, not a finished product but a huge potential.
DCS Normandy now has a page on the ED website
Pre-purchase details here. Ordered mine with the asset pack $47.99
Did my pre-purchase last Friday. The map is supposed to be released sometime in May. Do we know how many EAF are going to be in ?
I think most of the people that play DCS want it and will get it relatively early on others may take some time as they want to upgrade systems etc. I believe this applies to Puff.
OD
Im still going to purchase at the end of the month…but may struggle to run it { depends on optimisation }…but still looking forward to it.

Just per-ordered it. I will get around to playing it at some point, honest!!!
Just checked ED forums!
I’ll get also the Normandy Map with my Silver Kickstarter found-rising!
(they’ll give me the key close to release!)
Not bad! 87€ well spent to fund my fauvorite hobby!
And 4 planes and the new map!
Map has been expanded. I’ll get the screenshot uploaded tomorrow
Yes it is mutch bigger, CloD map covers around 108000 square kilometers, this picture is around 175000 square kilometers of area. It goes East exactly as clod map, only on North it dosent cover 30km that clod map has, its almost double then clod map.

Copied over from SoW forum.
This is really good news
I think they’ll add more airfields as they develop the map. That is what has been happening with NTTR map. Vegas was mostly done, and a few other points and they’ve added the airfields in stages as they’ve developed and finished them. It’ll take time to be finished, but it is most definitely playable.
