WW2 Aircraft in development

Ok, so I have asked around on the DCS forum and got a list of the WW2 aircraft currently being developed by all parties:
[ul]
[li]Spitfire Mk IX
[/li][li]Spitfire Mk XIV
[/li][li]Meteor F.3
[/li][li]Me262
[/li][li]Vampire
[/li][li]Mosquito
[/li][li]P-40F Kittyhawk (to be released this year)
[/li][li]F-4U Corsair
[/li][li]JU-87D-5/G-2 Stuka
[/li][li]Ho 229
[/li][li]Hispano HA-1112 Buchon
[/li][/ul]Also in development:

Other aircraft are planned, seen stuff about the P-47, Typhoon, Tempest and a couple of others. So WW2 is very much in development for DCS. The Normandy map is meant to be released this year, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was early 2017.

As lists go it is not bad! It will include WW2 jets, which should be fun. The P-40 doesn’t really fit with the planeset that we have, but then neither does Ho-229 (seeing as it never flew!)

Someone else has provided an update:

VEAO Hispano HA-1112 Buchon has not a WW2 airplane (post WW2) as the La-9 (not confirmed).

Great news, thanks for the research!

Just looked into the Kickstart, DCS and aircrafts yesterday.
The flight-engine is intriguing. It seems to me that the flightmodel is based on real data, and not tweaked in relation to other aircrafts. Can anyone confirm this?
I read though both the P51 and the Dora.
I was quite surprised by the effect of the MW50. In Il-2 1946, most people never flew the model with the MW50 as it little or no effect. They often chose the 1944 version with WEP boost. In DCS they claim an increase of almost 500 HP blow 6.000m/18.000ft

The aircraft are based on real world data. So the P-51D is the P-51 held by the Fighter Company at Duxford, as is the Sptifire Mk IX they are developiing.

VEAO are developing the simulators for the RAF for the Hawk and the Eurofighter Typhoon, that is where their models come from. The Ka-50 and the A-10C are the same. Both were developed as full scale simulators for the Russian air force and the USAF respectively. That’s why both are so complex.

This is one of the reasons I prefer DCS to, say BoS, the aircraft are not modelled to make them competitive or comparable to something else, they are modelled on the actual aircraft with a hell of a lot of detail, time and effort put in.

If you look at the helicopters that are out now, they are superb, same with the Mirage 2000 and the F-5E…the Mig-21 is just something else entirely. The detail in that thing includes proper modelling of ground clutter and clouds on the radar.

Thanks for the conformation, OD.

I still have some of the older DCS titels (A-10 & Blackshark), but they are shelved as I dont have the time. I bought them as try their engine.

With the news of a realistic engine and support for OC VR, I see the DCS WWII as a better potential successer than the BOS series.

Right now I consider buying the Nevada map and Dora when they get on sale again.

I wouldn’t worry too much about Nevada for WW2, but it is a nice map. This week was the first time I have seen it with 50% off. I’m more interested in Normandy now, but there are some conflicting stories about whether or not it includes the south coast of England or whether it is just Normandy and some more of Northern France. I’m hoping it includes the south coast.

Nevada can be pretty stunning. Low level down the Vegas strip at a few hundred mph or supersonic in a Mirage 2000 is fun stuff with OR - especially when you consider hitting a lamp post causes a big bang!
