Which is best 6600 or 6800?

Doh,

My Radeon 9800 Pro Fried last night

Now I need to get a new card and I can only spend around £100. I am pretty lost about nvidia as I have always been an ATI user, but now I want to get some of the added features on nvidia (like water=3 for movie making, not flying obviously)

Any help appreciated.

I have a MSI K8M NeoV mobo with an 8x AGP slot.

I am considering a 6600 or 6800 to get at least the same perfomance as my Radeon 9800 Pro.

See http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/07/05/vga_charts_vii/page13.html

And I will probably buy from here:

http://www.e-woc.co.uk/ProductsList.aspx?Page=2&CategoryID=25&WebCat1ID=169

So should I buy the:

XFX 6600 GT 128MB at £124.95 or the
LEADTEK 6800 LE 128 MB at £109.95

Help??

6800LE
Its faster @ stock, and there is a good chance chance of overclocking, and a possibility to open more pipelines via rivatuner.

E-buyer has an Asus v9999, one of the fastest 128mb 6800’s out of the box: http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=98265

well i tried a £300 6800GT and it was no diff to my radeon 9800.

but when i thought my Radeon had died I bought a cheap and cheerful
6600GT and its GREAT, very slick, very fast and runs everything spot on.

Doom 3 is very slick on it and IL2 etc are a joy

so for £100 its well worth it

Cheers guys, I couldn’t get the 6800LE, they are obsolete or something. So I got a 6600GT

Seems to be a bit better than the fried 9800 Pro, BUT, water=3 is fecking amazing.

I quickly set it up last night and shot a few movie clips to let any non-nvidia users see what water=3 looks like. It’s a bit rough round the edges as I had to turn Antialiasing off to get a decent framerate for a movie (totally unplayable in game though!):

Water=3 Demo Movie

is this also a teaser? :o

Hey Joe that’s not only a tech video… ;);)

Hmm, well, so I just happened to test the water effects on a map that I know very well, and a couple of aircraft used over the mediterranean in 1940. (That’s all I am allowed to say)

You made a good choice, i´ve got the Geforce 6600GT GLH, and it´s an superb graphic card.
And the 6600 GT card that you invested in is as good as the GLH card, the only difference is that hte GLH card can be overclocked.
Congrats
