Where to buy TrackIR 5?

Hello all,

My TrackIR 3 Pro has started playing up - the camera doesn’t want to ‘see’ the vector clip or anything else for that matter. So i’m thinking I may need to upgrade to the v5. Pennies are tight due to impending divorce despite living on my own, so was wondering where is the best place to look for TrackIR 5 at a good price? Ebay only seems to have stock in the USA.

Cheers,

WB.

Depends what you call a good price  try here though
http://www.rcsimulations.co.uk/shop/page/12?shop_param=

Probably still cheaper to get it from the States, we might have to pay Customs as well here :frowning:

Maybe speak to Osprey as he is overthere, you can but only ask

Splash

If it’s TIR5 you absolutely need, then Splash has the best link or you could try your luck with getting one from the states and try to get past customs. I buy a few things from the states ($30 levi’s for example :))and have been able to sneak past customs without paying duty a few times, but then again I’ve also been billed by them too!

But if money is tight…

TIR4 bundle for £115
http://www.amazon.co.uk/TrackIR-Track-Clip-Bundle-Vector/dp/B003MWC3NK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1335704055&sr=8-3

I use a TIR 4. Works well for me and as far as I can tell the TIR 5 is not much more than a aesthetic upgrade from Ver 4.

Try natural point, http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/promo/promo_landing.html?promoname=trackir5pro
with shipping it comes to $202.63 = £124.59

Plus customs?

Possibly customs on top.

Thanks chaps,

I’ve taken my 3pro to pieces and re-assembled and it’s working again. Maybe dust or somesuch. Might go for an upgrade anyway as soon as I can.

Cheers,

WB.

A piece of advice.
Don’t go for the TIR v4!
Go for the TIR v5

I have just replaced mine v4 with a v5 and the changes are significant.
Much more resonsive, much more precise, much less sensitive to false light but what really caught my attention are the feature to avoid breaking the foot of the TIR4 and the irritation of the wire strain effecting the TIR’s position.

Quote Starfire, TIR-5 is fantastic, a great hardware and great software, nothing to do with version three or four. I think the best place to buy is NaturalPoint.

Well my trusty TrackIR 3 Pro finally gave up the ghost today. :frowning:

It’s passed on! This TrackIR is no more! It has ceased to be! Its expired and gone to meet its maker! Its a stiff! Bereft of life, it rests in peace! If I hadn’t nailed it to the top of my monitor it’d be pushing up the daisies! Its metabolic processes are now history! It’s off the twig! It’s kicked the bucket, it’s shuffled off this mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin’ choir invisibile!! THIS IS AN EX-TRACKIR!!

TrackIR 5 ordered.

From http://www.flightstore.co.uk/simulation-c8/head-tracking-c179 £124.49 inc p+p.

WB.

You made an excellent purchase, you will not regret it, money well spent!!!

:w00t:

Tell us about it when you have tried it out

Have now had a chance to use my new TrackIR5. It’s very good, much as i expected. The view is much smoother and the tracking doesn’t get ‘lost’ as I look around. It’s also cured the jitters I used to get when trying to look straight down ie at the floor of the cockpit.

I don’t think I’d make the upgrade if I had a working TrackIR 3pro with VE as I don’t think the price tag warrants the improved performance but if you’re new to TrackIR, upgrading from version 1 or 2, or your current TrackIR dies then I think it’s well worth the purchase.

Before my new model arrived I flew a coop with the other 92 lads trying to use the old fashioned joystick hat method and it was a bit of a nightmare. I still maintain that TrackIR is one of the most essential pieces of kit for any dedicated flight simmer.

Cheers all,

WB.
(Happy again!)
