Sikorsky Hoverfly Ils (R-6A) of the ‘Pink Elephants’ team from the Airborne Forces Experimental Establishment (AFEE) based at Beaulieu, Hampshire, are photographed while rehearsing for the 1950 SBAC Show at Farnborough. Although formed specifically for this event, the tri-service team and their four aircraft – KN841, KN842, KN843 and KN846 – actually put in a number of appearances at other air shows throughout the year before being disbanded, along with the AFEE, in September 1950.
