"Thunderbolt! Reborn "Exclusive Special Restored Edition from Military Arts Pictures (C2010) - restored video from an archival print with more than 5 minutes of additional content & directional stereo sound in broadband. “Thunderbolt!” Chronicles the exploits of the P-47 Thunderbolt pilots of the “Fighting Cocks” of the 65th Fighter squadron, 57th Fighter Group, plus new footage of 64th FS “Black Scorpions,” 66th FS “Terminators” and Free French P-47s. Based on the island of Corsica off the coast of the Italian boot, the 57th FG flew from behind the enemy’s flank. As part of “Operation Strangle,” they continuously attacked highways, bridges, ammo dumps, railroads and just about anything that moved to choke off the flow of supplies to the Axis front line. Our new digitally restored print is a huge leap in quality with great new additional content.
“The B-58 Hustler Wins the Bleriot Trophy” NEW! A pilot once said of the Convair B-58, “She looked like she was breaking the sound barrier just sitting on the tarmac.” At Mach 2+, the B-58 wasn’t just one of the fastest bombers of her day, she was one of the fastest military planes period. In 1930 the French aviation pioneer Louis Bleriot established a prize for the first aircraft to average over 2,000 kph for thirty minutes-- the Louis Bleriot Speed Trophy. For 30 years, that prize lay unclaimed by any aircraft. See how supersonic B-58 Hustler “Firefly,” commanded by Major Elmer E Murphy, flying near Edwards AFB in May 1961, took the prize
“Winged Artillery” Exclusive – reconstructed audio & color corrected video. Nine 75mm cannon firing B-25Gs of the 48th Bomb Squadron, 7AAF, based on Apamama in the Gilbert Islands, conduct a hair raising tree top level strike on the Japanese air base on Mille. Also features amazingly well preserved and very rare color footage of daily life of air crew and ground personnel stationed on the islands. As a bonus, you’ll watch Sea Bees using heavy equipment to transform these hard won tropical atolls into fully functioning air bases and ground crews maintaining the Mitchell’s massive canons.
“FLAK” is a fascinating World War II training film for pilots on the theory and practice of evading antiaircraft fire. (“FLAK” is a German acronym for Fliegerabwehrkanone = “Flyer Defense Cannon.” ) The specifications, capabilities and targeting methods of a variety of German and Japanese AAA pieces are discussed as well as both high and low altitude evasions tactics . Well illustrated with charts, animations and combat film.
“Huey in a Helicopter War” (NEW!) was produce Bell Aircraft during the Vietnam war to show the essential part played by their “Huey” UH-1 Iroquois Helicopter in nine different of rolls, including recon & fire direction, transport & supply, a variety of assault gunships configurations and medical evacuations. The film uses dramatic combat footage to illustrate the theory, tactics and practice of Huey operations, including from the cockpit views of airborne assaults and the establish and development of LZ’s.
