War Graves are the greatest communicator of peace (Albert Schweitzer, 1875-1975)
This summer I spent a week of vacation in Normandy, as it was D-Day 75th anniversary
In spite of fact that generally women are not interested in military history, my whife also enjoyed the visit to museum and military cemeteries.
I took a lot of pictures, and I am going to publish them on our Italian website.
For the time being the following pages are on:
- Memorial Museum of Normandy, Bayeux (pics of armoured cars)
- British War Cemetery Bayeux
- German War Cemetery La Cambe (including pics of the burial of Michael Wittmann, the famous German panzer ace)
- German War Cemetery Huisines Sur Mere
- British War Cemetery Reyes Bazzeville
- US War Cemetery Colleville sur Mer (the one you probably saw on Saving Private Ryan)
If you are interested in having a look at the pictures go to www.eaf51.org, click on the left navigation toolbar “WHAT’S NEW” and follow the links
In the coming days I am going to update the page with other pics about the landing beaches and other museums.
