USe of temporary runways

Ok, so here I am in FMB, trying to set up a temporary runway (those under stationay ships, test runway)

But they always seem to be higher than the ground around, and any aircraft taking off from there just explode…

can anyone help? Thx

There is a temporary runway object which is transparent.

What we did for the Murmansk EIF to counter the same problem was have five of these temporary transparent runways either side of the main runway that was to be used.

To do this, if you use the visible temp runways as markers, then change them when you’re happy.

If you’re not sure what I mean, download this mission: load it up in FMB and look in AS8 or AP9

Ouch! how much time to build a mission like that?

thank you Keets. But my problem is that I need exactly the test runway 2, because thats the type used in SE (I think) and I need to test the max load out for a bomber that take off from there

Is the issue, that planes spawn hovering over the runway and then explode when they drop?
If you are setting up a COOP then, IIRC, they need to have the first waypoint set as landing, they should spawn on the deck then.

No Brigs. Is that the runway appears to be about 1 m tall, higher than ground, while the airplane appears “inside” the runway, and exploding.

Anyway, I just put a runway side by side a normal one, and that tells me the length I need.

Thx all

It’s a similar issue, the temp runways need to treated as a carrier. Aircraft selected to take off from a temp strip in FMB will not see the runway unless set as landing. They will either spawn inside or hovering above.

I tried with landing WP as you said, and the problem was the same.

Nepe,

What you must do when using these runways is on the first waypoint (Takeoff waypoint), you need to go to the “Set” command/button under the waypoint tab for that flight click it and set the target as the Test runway.

This stops them exploding when they spawn.

Sorry I misunderstood the issue

Thats it!! Well done Keets, my noggin has been chord struck. I’ve not been able to get near my PC today and have been racking my brains what it was to set a take off position off a Carrier/temp runway.

The good thing is that placing several parallel to each other allows you to have a squadron take off in rough line abreast

It works!

Thank you gentlemen

You mean like this?
