I’ve installed the Il2_411_1_INT.exe update (from the official forum) over my working, clean 4.09m
I just get the 4.11.1 loading screen and then I’m kicked back to desktop

I’m not sure, but you might need to add 4.10 before you install 4.11.
Ming m8 I did put the full sequence of installs and links in the 19 Tactics forum.
Just to recap the sequence should be 4.09–4.10–4.10.1–4.11–4.11.1
There was a hotfix that needed to be added after 4.11 (the 4.11_Hotfix) but Im pretty sure that now with 4.11.1 the hotfix is not needed.

Here’s a how to guide I did for Osprey:
Register for SIMHQ on their forum, they have download pages for the IL2 patches.
Step 1) Install (but don’t run) IL2 1946
Step 2) Go to: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/forums/265/1/IL_2_Series_Downloads.html
And download the following:
Patch 4.08
Patch 4.09
Patch 4.10 (You don’t need 4.10.1 as its included in 4.11)
Patch 4.11
Patch 4.11.1
Step 3) Install all the patches.
Step 3a optional) Make a copy of your IL2 folder as this is now a vanilla install
Step 4) Go Here: http://188.40.123.132/downloads/HSFX6/ and download all files.
Step 5) Put all the files in one folder and run the HSFX Version 6.0 Exe file. This will ask you for your installation folder. Point it to your main IL2 folder and install.
Step 6) run the Part 2 Ver 6.exe the same as above
Step 7) run the HSFX Version 6.0 Patch 1.exe and the same as above
Step 8) Browse to your IL2 folder and run JSGME (this will have been installed for you) and activate the following mods in this order:
Expert Mode
Hakenkruez Enabler
HSFX History mod
Perfect Map Textures
Nightbombsites
Advanced Barrage mode (After Expert)
At some point, it will say its modifying files already modified, click ok.
Step 9) Run il2fb.exe from your il2 folder and it should say 4.11.1 HSFX 6.0.1. The splash screen should have a load of US warship shots.
Step 10) Download and install HL and make that point at your IL2fb.exe
You’re done.

4.09m running, finally got a screen at 1920x1080, black-letterboxing anamorphicness but nice
I’ve got the cursor on the screen (Windows desktop hardware cursor) and can’t get rid of it, some Win7 compatibility thing, investigating. Someone may know: I’ve got to be here for the above instructions anyway. Mr Efficiency me

Ta Keets all ok up to 4.11.1, that’s running sort-of ok but with this no escape key working, Windows cursor onscreen thing. Trying all the compatibility options, seeing all the Windows3 Stone Age ‘End Program Now?’ - er, no maybe later when you’re less busy? dialogs and scanning techy-stuff
I think I ended up last time running in D3D to get going and that’s not on. I’ll appeal that

A corrupted conf.ini is the known problem, something to do with my graphics adaptor (after Oleg checks its caps and gets it wrong looks like)

Try Alt-Tab, to go back to desktop. Let it switch, then Alt-Tab back to IL2, works for me anyway (Windows 7 here)

edit conf.ini to your native res and change SaveAspect to 0

Trying to install HSFX, but, when loading, I keep getting this screen (edited for space … showing top and bottom LH corners)
This is just one ship, and a different text to that suggested by Keets (here http://www.europeanaf.org/forum/showthread.php?21782-Updating-problem&p=175921&viewfull=1#post175921)
I’ve been through the download/install cycle several times, am I missing something?

Splash screen looks right.
HSFX should say 6.0.1 which means that the patch hasn’t been installed or recognised.
Did you do this step AND send it to the right path?

And I think you have to have all the mods deactivated before installing that, not sure about that though.
