Tone Mapping Photographs

Does this work or not ?

Comments please

Phil,

Tone mapped images have the same qualities as Marmite  Some love them and some hate them.

For me, when it is done it has to be done subtly or I can’t stand it. This is a good attempt that is perhaps a touch too contrasty but is very good none the less, a little tweak would sort it in my opinion.

Perhaps the runway could be levelled slightly so it isn’t sloping to the left?

I like it… the detail on the a/c works well.

Maybe the grass is a little too de-saturated??

I liked it so much it is set as my Background, looks as if it belongs in the movie “Band of Brothers”.

Osprey hit the nail on the head. Any post processing at all conveys a different feel to the real life image (or video). Yer, yer, I know there is always some small post processing to “clean up” an image but when you move further away from making it look real to making it look something different then you are in the realms of perception and message.

Just like the filtering applied to Band of Brothers to make it seem more gritty compared to something like Sky Captain where colours are saturated and images made cartoony for the opposite surreal effect.

The particular message this picture conveys to me is that it is an old picture with surprising clarity and sharpness. So a mixed messaget. But I do like it.

Especially that the aircraft gets to take off going downhill :roflmao:

thanks chaps , it was just a test didnt fine tune it , I normally straighten them

Personally I like it, brings colours out real nice.
