Today is the day!

Of the Viggen! :w00t: :w00t: :w00t:

Ok, I need to go 1.5.6 Open Beta, but perhaps that fixes some of my Spitfire problems as well (wings falling of, CTD too often when flying the Spit, loosing connection to TIR etc). Unless the Viggen is plagued by even worse problem then the Spitfire, I will probably get sucked in to flying it almost exclusively for a while…

BTW, my Spitfire problems (that became worse some time ago, didn’t have all of them from the beginning) have made me fly the Mustang a lot more. I’m starting to come to terms with it, changing my input profiles really helped a lot with it!

Downloaded, and started up and took off without help or reading.

I probably didn’t do a perfect start up, but I had it up and running pretty fast anyway (ok, I have watched one proper startup sequence on youtube once). Did a little flying, managed to break the sound barrier within a couple of minutes after taking off. Totally lost where the runway was, and messed around with outside views until I made a big smoking hole in the ground. :roflmao: Pretty good for a first try anyway.

Good thing I was in a good mood when going driving with my gf, I’m her instructor. All was going well until when heading home she managed to drive us into the ditch (or rather the snow wall consisting mostly of ice) at the side of the road just after a intersection. At least we where lucky and first got to borrow a shuffle, and then a nice man in a Volvo XC60 came along and pulled us out of there. Ah well, I still got to take-off in a Viggen tonight!

lol…you swedes

Glad you’re both okay and hopefully the car!

Actually was a kalmuckian/russian pilot that tried to put us in the ditch.
Car will need some spare parts, but nothing too serious. Good thing I bought her a fairly cheap car to train in, and I have an exactly alike one (except for color) to “borrow” broken parts from.

Well, I have done some more SAAB driving now. Very easy to get started, not too hard to take off (ok, extremely easy compared to the Spit for example). Took her up for another spin, did a little flying around at low alt/high speed, went around and managed to find the base without getting too distracted (no boom, except the sonic ones), and then I landed. Pretty uneventful landing until I accidentally put her on EBK3 (full afterburner) while having the reverse on, only for a second or so until I realized my error, didn’t damage anything, but it scared me a little.

I really enjoy flying the AJS-37, feels good, and once I have it set up and learn to use weapons, I might have a hard time staying away from it. Love it!

Is the XC 60 four wheel drive in Sweden? Ours is only 2 wheel. BTW Mikke I work for a Volvo dealership in the states, I run the autobody shop.

You can get it both with or without 4WD (or AWD I think Volvo calls it), my guess is that most of those sold in Sweden, at least here in northern Sweden, is AWD. 4WD is quite popular with other makes and models as well, more then 30% of all new cars sold in Sweden have AWD/4WD, probably 50% of all VW Passat is sold with 4WD here, and for Audis it’s even higher. Driving on snow and ice for almost half the year might have something to do with it.

About the Viggen, I did a little more flying on saturday, tried to do some ground attacks (unsuccessful as I didn’t have enough functions set up) and some A-A (slightly more successful, against Aeroflot planes coming in to drop paras). Need to do a bit of reading and configure stick and controls better.

I had my first, brief, flight last night. Really like it. This is going to be a complex one to learn though, but I think it is one that will be well worth it. Just wish it could carry an laser designator for aircraft like the Mirage. (The A-10C can’t keep up!)
