TM Hotas Cougar question

I just bought a HOTAS Cougar, modded with Hall sensors. And I have a silly question to anyone who are more technically talented than me:o

When calibration is set to auto calibration in the control panel I don’t get max value on one of the axis. On manual calibration the Y axis reaches the maximum value of 65000. But not in auto calibration mode, it stops firmly at 48000, giving only approx 40% of the output in that direction.(meaning 40% of the distance between center and maximum) I hope that description makes sense:o

It seems to me that the sensor does its job, and gives correct output. And my guess is that it is some kind of software/setting issue. Only thing is; I can’t figure it out.

I don’t mind running it in manual mode, which works fine. But it annoys me since I’m pretty sure the auto calibration mode is there for a reason, and I also want the gear to work properly.

Hope there are many hotas cougar experts in EAF:p?

Well, you no longer have a standard Cougar, no more pots to go bad, and with it might come the reason that auto calibration no longer works.

Open the little proggie that shows the output graphically (no, not the one you use to calibrate etc, the other one!). If you just push the stick in the direction where you don’t get the full motion, doesn’t it start to move after a short while to go up to full movement? I have to do it every time after I have reset the axis (need to do it from time to time due to my bad rudder pedals).

If that doesn’t work, well, it’s manual calibration for you from now on (a very small price to pay really).

Hi Stone

Sorry, NoGo :frowning:

I got an Cougar w.

Evenstrain Mods (w. HAL sensors)
Throttle got the HAL sensor mod.

I have excatly same problem  and had it for years since I got the new sensors. Just as you I use manual calibration for all my joystickfiles.
I asked the question some years ago over at Cougarworld ( http://cougar.frugalsworld.com/ hosted by Frugal :D) and to no avail.

I go by Starfire over there(surprise)

Ok thanks for the info I’ll write that one off. Manual it is. Back to the programming to get the rest of it sorted:anpaper:

And should you get fed up with it, just let me know and I’ll trade you a Saitek Aviator stick for it, as good as new, only used it for a couple of minutes (and a couple of hours trying to install Saiteks program to actually program the stick, finally found the solution to that. Let’s just say I’m not impressed with Saiteks installer…).

Do you need a inspiration? I can send you my profile for Il2
I know tast is different but I got a nice piece of logical programming for the two step trigger. The first can be changed between guns and cannons and the secon fire all guns
