For those interested in the next title after COD, this is Battle for Moscow from IC.
Initally I was a little sceptical about wanting controllable ground stuff in a flight sim, but after watching the level of detail in there it has the potential for a huge war sim. Imagine an SEOW with real people manning the guns, driving the tanks, getting that convoy through and us pilots overhead doing our bit. With fibre broadband being rolled and 6 and 8 core cpus here, it might work. Certainly ambitious.
I did have a quick look but with downloads in the background it was very choppy, will have another look.
When CloD came out I really hoped it would come with multiple expansion packs to eventually completely replace IL2. I hope the FMB and coop.txt work in the same way to allow the SEOW community to adapt quite quickly.
Weren’t we supposed to get these features in CloD? It all sounds great, but content can get pulled/dropped very easily, think of the Sukhoi stunt plane that we saw videos for.
It’d be better if they cleaned up the mess they made rather than concentrating on ways to get the community to part with more cash. The shameless way that BoM has been referenced on the banana forum as to where things will be fixed is appalling.
I don’t thnk they get it, i bought cod and was disappointed like much of the community and will not buy the new product while the one i have is broken.
Promises of it being fixed do not convince me and as keets said these latest videos were trailed for cod and not delivered.
I am also worried. My faith in the developers have slowly decreased. I understand they need more sales, but I wanted to see more attention to FM and DM.
Weren’t we supposed to get these features in CloD?
Yes we were (flak cannon position promised anyway like Aces High) but let’s not go there
This sounds good if it gets off the ground
Not the tanks
Yes caution is advised Keets you’re right, not to encounter disappointment is the order of the day, smells a bit wish-listy
Still Kursk might be nice, it’s the first online coop mission we all flew together. Mikke remembers I bet Lag- crikey. After that we stopped using ground operations for a bit
This brings me back to the old days of IL-2 Sturmovik.
I bought it and shelfed it because of disapointment.
I came back to the series when I got “Pacific Fighters” on sale. Even then I was not back for good.
It took several versions and patches of trail versions to gain my trust.
I have no problem with 1c making money for game extensions, but not before the basic game have show its value.
I have decided to wait for reviews before I buy their extensions.
under dogs, they fight the hardest and enjoy the greatest victories
I’ll never forgot a moment in one of the bellum wars… I was flying an old I-153, deep behind the lines and the rest of my flight destroyed and I am alone being set upon by 2xBF109 F4’s who are hell bent on my destruction. Refusing to turn with me they B&Z (as of course they should) I dodge attack after attack and each moment I have I am clawing my way back towards the sanctuary of friendly territory for the inevitable bail out, can I survive that long? I am the only red pilot left in game but now the fight has been going for so long the other blue pilots begin chatting on the chat bar to get on with it and destroy him. With a sinking feeling they loosen their hold on me and are now not extending so far, but this only meant more frequent attacks. I thought the games up any moment now. But at that moment one of them makes a mistake and presents me an opportunity, as he attacks rather than pulling hard and climbing away he overshoots before climbing and thus presents me a free shot, I take the shot as soon as he passes me and set his aircraft ablaze. Falling in flames he bails out and now the blue pilots still in game begin to mock this pair of aces. Turning again towards the second BF109 I notice a new development… he is running away :bootyshk:
That was a good fight and only the kind of fight and satisfaction that you can get as the underdog, for that reason alone I will fly red a/c.
Then the other matter for blue pilots… it must be like an arranged wedding at 16 “this is your aircraft, it is all you will fly every mission till the end of the war” and much like a wife it may find extra bits added on, perhaps bulges where before were once sleek lines of a slim thoroughbred, it will also grow heavier and more cumbersome. Thats not for me, I like the variety afforded to a red pilot
Thought the same, I16 v F4 again doesn’t inspire - done that. For the russian version I’d be more than happy to fly Blue and learn energy fighting and see what all those Blues were complaining about I’m not shooting at roundels though…its just wrong.
Then there’s the real thoroughbred, the FW190. Just wait until it is available. Now, that’s a real airplane and I for one will fly it! Anytime any day!
