Targetware anyone?

C-47 is coming

THREAD

The Polish division of the Targetware mod makers presents their first WW2 mod pack.

PZL 11, PZL 37 Los and PZL 23 Karas for the Poles.
BF 109 D/E, JU 87 B and Fi-156 Storch for the Germans. Bombers like the DO-17 are still a work in progress.

Bf109 F and G available now for the med.

Paf,

Duke and I did fly for some time on the Polish map with a 109 E-1 (or 3). They should make a dogfight map with shorter flying times. It took a while to meet the PZL’s.

You are learning fast to use the gauges because the information system is quite messy. Instead of 80 % throttle you call out 1 ATA manifold pressure. Instead of 80 % prop pitch you call out pitch at 4 o’clock. The pitch indicator works as a clock. The RPM is a consequence of both settings. And diving of course.

And overrevving in a dive is quite easy. You got to throttle back and turn the pitch back before hand. And in the 109 D you have to watch fuel starvation by negative G. Flip over and dive.
The same goes for overheating and pressure. Watch it when you have been hit. You might want to go home before the smoke and sputters. otherwise the 109 does nice bellylandings.

You are superior to the PZL 11, but hitting them takes patience and dicipline. Learning how to fly a PZL takes time. And RTFM. The PZL 37 Los behaves like a brick when coming in to slow for landing. Throttle up quickly, go around and try again.

I think that I want to look at the Tobruk map for comparison in flight behaviour. Gladiator, Hurri, CR-42, G-50, 109 E, F and G.

Is targetware still free to play online? Or do you have to pay something?

Its free.

I didn’t tried the WOP WW2 Mod yet. But I like the engine-management in Targetware. A lot to look at to get the best out of the plane and Prop-pitch is really prop-pitch which makes it really hard in a early hurri for example.

Will contact you guys for a test.

Last time I flew it was more than a year ago.

Yes, you might want a throttle quadrant with power, pitch and mix directly on levers. An X-53 maybe.

Another one in the works

Hopefully the landscape will look something like this when TW-Engine gets the so necessary update.

The Douglas C-47 is out now for Target Tobruk.

It is harder to land, no flying from the seat of your pants. You better know the right glide slope and stall speed.

Very nice, will check it out.

Btw Bob, your signature is not visible .

Yes my signature got lost somewhere on the HD. Maybe I will dig up the Spitfire from old days.

A Henschel HS-126 and Lublin RXIIID for Targetpractice, uh Targetware.

The update for the War over Poland 1939 is out:

See the note for the additions and changes

Its nice to see how the War Of Poland Mod develops.
If we only could get a version update :frowning: The main gameplay-issues could be solved and it would be for more people an alternative to fly.

While searching up infos on the french airforce for our SE-Skinpack, the Leo451 really got me hooked. I started a model after TW-guidelines in some free hours, which maybe will be flyable some time. But to get it that far I need alot more time, which will hopefully come this summer

The ugly rear-gunner cannon is just a placeholder

Paf,

Lovely plane, but a long way to go.

Well the reinstallation of the Saitek drivers drove me crazy. Went to the city to cool down. The second hand bookstore had some tank booklets.

I don’t know which button it is but all game controls freeze up and after <ESC> I am back on the desktop instead in of the Targetware menu. Kicked out some commands in Targetware but it still happened. Investigations continue. Could be a simple thing.

I need some flying lessons on the PZL-23 Karas. That one is a mystery to me. Where is the handbook?

Targetware is unforgiving in engine handling. No prop overspeeding or overheating goes unpunished. So you better think and watch the gauges.

Sorry Bob,
I have no idea what could be causing your problems :frowning:

Yes you are right, handling planes and engines is more complex. Also trim is much more important than in Il2, because the powers seem much heavier in TW to me.
For starting, planes are good, which have automatic-pitch, so you won’t have to look at the RPM all the time.
Polish and early RAF planes are a pain in this way
To have a bit safety, I always make sure to have 100% cooling. But a bit time is needed to learn the plane and the temperatures the engine can go. Not all have a good manual.
I didnt tried the Karas yet, was always flying the Los, which is nice, although the groundhandling seems abit weird.

Alltogether I must say that I like the Poland 1939 setup and the planes. I always was an early war fan

I am praying that it is all right now. Removed all references to keyboard, stick and pedals from TW. The problem seems that all input from the keyboard is blocked. Maybe a conflict between the real life keyboard and Saiteks Magic keyboard. (OK, this is a stab in the dark (room). Huh, the lady with the beard?).

Found 2 links that i found interesting. First an online scenariodesigner:
http://www.monalimentation.fr/tw/scen_designer/
Don’t know yet how it works and if it works.

Secondly the manuals for the PZL’s in TW. With in game shots of the controls. I also have a pdf with the original PZL-37 manual. All in Polish. Online translator anywhere? Arturo?

Hey, someone named paf on the TW forum. LOL. He already knows.

Music played today:
Televison, Marquee moon, 1977.

Got it resolved now. Redefined my Saitek profile.

Maybe adding zoom cycle, but I don’t really like the zoom option. I prefer the 6DOF head movement above that. But I sometimes need the zoom for reading instruments.

Music today: The Ventures, Live in Japan 1965

Nice you got it solved
I can imagine, that its fun to use 6DOF
I setup my stick that way, that I control the view with the upper hat and the zooming with the one below in the center. With the thumb I can quickly change between different FOV-settings (which you can set yourself in the game-settings).
One thing regarding the reading of instruments. For me they always appaered blurry and only clear when zoomed in very far. Now I found out, that it was a setting in my graphicscard-software. Mipmap detail and its quality has to do with it. I have it now on High Quality and everything is crisp

Aha, still on medium settings.
