Storm of War 30/07/15

~S~ All

Was great to fly with Red last night. We ended up in a few heavy scraps and over all Red team bagged a number of enemy aircraft for minimal losses - despite JG4 being ever present and mixed in with the AI. We joined up with 54 Sqn and 19 sqn on TS to track down the Blues in one large group - I don’t think they knew what hit them! I think the final tally came to at least 9 Bf109’s and 9 Ju88s - possibly more. We lost 1 Hurricane and 2 Spitfires I believe as 54 Squadron lost a Spitfire to a strafing Bf110 after landing damaged.

I’m not sure I want to be tangling with 8 109s while in a Hurricane on my own every week, but it was great fun and I survived…which surprised me, the plane unfortunately was force landed not too far from Manston.

It seems that Sir Trafford Leigh-Mallory was right!
The Big Wing works. Good to hear of some success stories.

This is why OD and myself pushed for the Merge :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Ah…well, yes and no. Bear in mind we still only made it up to a Squadron strength, about 12 max, and we were still outnumbered - so in reality we’re making it more towards the situation encountered by 11 Group rather than that advocated by 12 Group. I still say that Park was right - I think the results say so too as the RAF survived.
