SRS Simple Radio Standalone Guida all’installazione e configurazione

Per gli italiani: scusate ma non riesco a fare la doppia versione, sono di corsa. Proverò magari stasera, intanto andate di Google Translate che dovrebbe essere abbastanza efficace. Perdonatemi! :bowing_man:

The guide has been written several years ago when we were using Il-2 BOS, mainly. A great part of it is still useful and up to date, but a few changes with SRS happened meanwhile and we’re actually using it with DCS now. I’ll release a new version of the guide ASAP, but until then, just consider the following:

  • SRS is now much more integrated in DCS, so it will launch and connect automatically (if correctly set in options, talk about it in a moment)
  • In our DCS warbirds, we only have 1 radio. This means that you can set a single keybind for the “Radio 1” command and set and option to make it work as PTT too. Take a look at the screenshots below.
  • A little thing to note about automatic updates: quite often it happens that SRS is launched automatically when you enter a DCS server which uses it. Once launched, SRS could tell you that a new version is out and it can be updated. A popup will appear, with 3 choices: “Update”, “Ignore” and “Cancel”. Update will start the update procedure. Cancel will ignore the update for now, start SRS with present version and will ask for update next time you launch SRS.
The problem is that you can’t update SRS while DCS is running (it needs to update some scripts in DCS, too). You have 2 options:
  1. close DCS and let SRS update
  2. click “Cancel”, use SRS as installed and update in the future. This could create problems anyway, if the new version is not backward compatible and other players (or server) have already installed new version.

Best thing to do, anyway, is to open SRS before launching DCS. This way, you can update it if needed. Having it open already will have no impact and DCS will only provide autoconnect once you enter a multiplayer server which supports SRS (like our EAF servers do!).

Here follows some screenshots of my SRS configuration. In yellow the critical options to set.

Set microphone and Speakers as specified in the linked guide.

As mentioned before, this is the only keybind you’ll need, if you use SRS for WWII Warbirds only.

Following images are from “Settings” page in SRS, just scroll down to reach bottom sections.
CHECK SECOND IMAGE FOR THE SETTING YOU MUST ACTIVATE TO USE THE SINGLE KEYBIND AS PTT BUTTON

Hope this can help while the new SRS Guide version will come out!
Ask here or PM me for any doubt!

Cheers!
