Rift S Review

Just ordered a Rift S as a trial, any tips or tricks in getting this up and running. Mainly for flying DCS and BOX running with a 1080Ti.

People using Oculus tray tool and any setting worth trying with it? or SteamVR?

Cheers all

I’ve got a review to publish, but it needs some work. With all the crap I’ve had going on I’ve just not been able to do the things that I had hoped with the website or the PC in general. I want to get it done in the next few weeks though. Rift S is a step up from the original and runs absolutely fine with the 1080Ti. I can’t really fault it. I couldn’t afford the Index and I saw mixed reviews about the Reverb. I’m pleased with the Rift S - but the Valve Index is the top of the bunch.

Yep had a look around your site for a review just in case. I thought for the price and what you and others have said it would work well with my 1080Ti as I don’t want to upgrade yet and the other VR headsets looked like I would have to get the higher res.

Just got it but the kids have been playing the Vader1 and Robo recall on the other PC in the sitting room. Want to try out BoX first as did a fair amount of VR testing in that, plus I loved dogfighting in that. Appears clearer, especially text when looking directly at things, want to see whats spotting like. Happy so far!

Vader Immortal is good fun. I’ve had no real issues with the Rift S. The initial things that occasionally happened such as the glitching on the screen were fixed in a software update. My biggest difficulty after the original Rift it the lack of IPD adjustment. I’m finding that I can get a slight double vision because I have a slight lazy eye. This was countered before with the actual moving of the IPD adjustment, it doesn’t work as well for me with a digital adjustment.

Otherwise clarity is much better, I’m not a massive fan of dropping the screen to 80Hz, 90 seems better to me, but it’s still perfectly fine. The only time I can notice it is at high speed, low level with lots of trees in DCS. I’ve not seen it is IL2.

I didn’t post the link! D’oh!
