I was just checking out whether Biggin Hill (an 11 group sector station in 1940) is still visible on Google maps today. Going into satellite view i got a nice surprise; the satellite photos show the Red Arrows on the runway! hard to tell if they are taking off or landing; easy to tell it was in front of a huge crowd. Check it out:
That’s a really interesting picture! My guess is that the Arrows have just landed. A F-16 waiting on the taxi way, a B-17 and a Lancaster parked at the south end, parked Spitfires and other single engine prop planes, and on and on. I see some tanks and other military ground vehicles parked just above the middle of the crowd
:w00t:
Wonder if it’s the same B-17 that is parked at the Duxford airfield picture?
What a finding Snafu!!!
Thank you for sharing, very interesting.
The rainbow coloured Hunter that Phil shot is there as well. Together with a few Hurries and Tornadoes. Very nice satellite image.
I would say the Red Arrows have just landed, the question is if the red arrows are on the ground we can see possible likely contenders about to line up for takeoff with the Chinook + 2xLynx helicopters or the F16 the question is whats in the air? As the Red Arrows are down in the next minute or so the next aircraft is likely to start its display but what and where is it? (no I haven’t found it )
Tis inspires to go and check other fields as well
Found another one!! Here’s Oshkosh…
