Recording tracks in DCS

I have recently experienced difficulties in trying to record flights in DCS. Example : I do a start-up, taxy, runway line-up, normal take-off roll and landing but when playing back the video, at some point my plane does not follow the flight profile I made - for example the take-off roll is offset at 15° to the centerline and the aircraft crashes - a few seconds later the gear cycles.

On checking DCS forums this bug is well known and not really fixable. It happens because DCS track files are very light, they only record player inputs and on playback the sim “flies” again using the stored inputs. Deviation occurs when there are slight variations in the numeric values of the recorded inputs or in their playback. The phenomena is accentuated when there is a lot of view changes (IR head movements or F1/F2 view switching). This also means that each playback of the same flight may be different.

I am relieved to find out that my original flights were not hallucinations !

Solution : Use other video software to record screen capture. This obviously generates files that are very heavy and may perturb the flight experience if your pc is not powerful enough. Most seem to recommend using OBS (Open Broadcaster Software), but would be happy to know of any other similar software that you might recommend.

When I was recording Storm of War I used nvidia shadowplay, it’s bundled as part of the nvidia control centre. You can set how ‘heavy’ the files are, but they’ll never be ‘light’ just lighter. If you want it to record your mic as well then you can set that as on option, meaning that you can talk over the track - or have it record you using TS.

Thanks OD will check it out.
