Rare warbird found near Kent,GB

Do 17

Thx Star good new!!

Yeah this is good news, nice catch Starfire…and so for the fisherman lol.

I got the news from a friend. A friend that doesen’t play computergames and have no interest in aircrafts. But when he saw it, he thought om his friend the ‘nutcase’

Its been on my Homepage on Yahoo. Pretty amazing how accurate that side scan sonar is that you can actually know the type.
Don’t feel bad Starfire, I think there are more than your fair share of “Nutcases” in this Forum…

I have a feeling that it was a requrement to be here

A Do17? How nice is that!

Strange to think that one of the most used bombers have not survieved the war

Well, what happend to the Do 17 after the BoB? Didn’t it cease production and eventually most of them were lost being used to other duties or scrapped after the war?

A pity in Norwegian aviation history is of course the biggest pool of 109’s, Ju88 and FW 190’s that Germany still had at the end of the war, was scrapped all together…the remaining were either used for research or found as wrecks in the sea later.

Accordng to wiki, they where withdrawn from bomber duty in 1942 and relegated as glider tugs and night fighters.

The Finnish Air Force had some in their inventory, but these were scrapped in 1952.
