RAF Waddington 2011 Hot, Hazy, and Lazy.

So that’s how you get new F-16’s!

Nice shots Phil.

I was there with Splash on Saturday and we wondered if you were there, which day did you go? It was rather warm both days wasn’t it.

I’m just trying to work out how far down the flight line you were.

I was in the Spitfire Grandstand on Sat and the Bomber Harris Chalet on Sunday (because I won the tickets in a photo competition.

Now you can join James (Insight) in the exclusive club of “people who have nearly met me at an airshow”

Glad you liked the pics

Quick shot of the Lanc, taken on Sunday as she flew over my front garden

10 minutes later by the Red Arrows.

Splash

Great shots Phil. I’m just getting into digital photography - requirement of the job rather than a hobby - but I’m starting to get the bug. What sort of equipment do you use and what are the typical settings you use for those sort of pics?

Cheers,

WB.

Current Camera is a Canon EOS 50D with a 100 400mm L series IS USM lens

All hand held, I use Sport mode for the jets as it gives a high shutter speed

you can use Aperture Priority Mode (AV) as well, using a big Aperture

for Prop planes to get the prop blur I use 1/160th in shutter priority (TV) mode

the secret of shooting planes is smooth panning

I’m just a clumsy amatuer though
