I am seriously considering buying CFS3 when this mod comes out. After all it’s the only way of getting a decent WW1 campaign in glorious 3D
Looks very good
Might have to find my copy of CFS3…Think it was installed and un-installed under 15 mins when I got it first time
But this mods looks great.
A very nice preview movie here: http://www.polovski.com/OFF.htm
Historical paintschemes and ace pilots, a decent dynamic campaign, cutscenes… Looks like a worthy successor to RB3D… at last Plus it has the Hanriot HD1, which hopefully means I’ll be able to fly for the Belgian Air Force:
I haven’t got CFS3 yet, but it’s on my Christmas list (saw it cheap in Dixon’s :))
A Russian developer team, called GT (Gennadich Team) is working
with a new WW1 sim based on IL2 engine.
seem to be a good start

Yes Haza, that looks good too, but it’s still far away. The Over Flanders Fields mod for CFS3 will be released in a few days (and is free!)
Also, ThirdWire are working on a WW1 sim based on the Strike Fighters engine. I just bought Wings Over Vietnam and it is a very enjoyable sim. I’m hitting myself on the head for not getting it earlier!
Any new WW1 sim will have to deal with the legacy of RB3D… which means it will have to include a decent singleplayer mode if it wants to succeed. Of the three, so far it looks like the CFS3 mod offers the best chance for this. I really hope that this Gennadich Team will bring some of this into the IL2 engine. In fact, I think a WW1 environment will do better justice to the IL2 engine than WW2: smaller air battles, lower altitudes, static frontlines, no radio comms… Your AI wingmen will probably remain stupid as they are, but at least you won’t notice it much
WW1: Knights Of The Sky
Theres a new dev.update with a demo fokker soundsample

A few days ago I bought CFS3 and installed the OFF mod. It’s a great one!
I had a few problems to sort out the CFS3 viewing system but now I am almost happy with it… just need to find a way to get mouseview in.
Just remember that this is only the first instalment of OFF. More is coming For the moment there are only a few aircraft available, etc, but there’s enough to keep one busy for some time. The terrain is simply beautiful and the weather effects are very well done… low hanging fog, subtly rolling hills, bomb craters… I don’t know if the clouds affect the AI’s visibility but they certainly look stunning. Crossing the frontline you will see the trenchworks, artillery barrages, observation balloons, ground units (including blocks of infantry platoons!)… it’s all there. It could be an echo of RB3D, but I am sure I could hear air raid sirens when passing over an enemy airfield.
Flight models are alright and wingman AI seems not too bad… No radio comms so it is less obvious when they do something stupid
It’s well worth buying CFS3 just for this addon IMO.
I’m loving it, definately the dogs danglies IMO. The scenery is stunning, the effects re: artillary are very very good, weather and clouds superb, all in all a stunning piece of work.
Add the fact it supports 6DOF and you have a very worthy replacement for RB3D. It’s just gone to number one in my list of favourite flight sims.
mhhhhhhh look at this Spad for the Il2-based WW1 Sim:

Yup, the Gennadich Sim is the one I’m waiting for. OFF is a stepping stone until that one appears. My heart has always been with WWI sims, after years with RB3D the graphics finally started to look too dated, which is why I slipped into IL2. Now that OFF has appeared and Glennadich is on the horizon too, I’m finding it hard to contain myself.
OFF is really good, but because it’s built on top of CFS3 it has it’s faults. Faults I find easy to overlook because of the content in OFF
I think the Gennadich simm will be a great one. The Russian programmers are developing it in certain cooperation with the community, and they answer to e-mails They have the right attitude and they are moving fast to release it this autumn.
My WW1 squad RAC has started some IL2 flying in order to prepare for this new WW1-sim based on IL2 engine.
I have dowloaded OFF and all the patches, installed them all in order but when i enter cfs3 it doesnt work. any ideas?
Hmm, i installed it yesterday and had to work alot of time on it to get it work.
I had to put my system language to english. But I think its not the problem for you
Now my problem is, its very very slow, its unplayable. When i turn the display details down to 2 and with a resolution of 800x600 i get 9 FPS!!
I can run il2 with upper medium settings at 30 FPS. I thought CFS3 dosnt need as much power as Il2?
Do you have any ideas
