Over the past few weeks, and with input and advice from Brigs, I have been gathering components to go liquid cooled
Just the case too come, then we can start proper
Thinking how any plumbing jobs around the house give me grief, I am not to sure why I thought this was a good idea  but, I am keen to start the project.
Current parts look a bit like this:
And a close look at the water blocks and pump:
I will be updating this thread as the project progresses, so keep an eye out to see if I get in hot water :bootyshk:
Its more to do with better and quieter cooling TBH
OK so while awaiting the case I decided to tap the radiator for mounting:
Then wire the radiator fans together, and sleeve them:
Then the doorbell went, and a delivery arrived the case and sata dvd-rw drives along with a cd drive bay 120mm fan intake:
Drilled and mounted the Rad:
And then did the same for the pump, even though its meant to be a quiet pump, I rubber mounted it with grommets and rubber washers to ensure vibration isn’t passed to the case.
I wasn’t happy with the resovoir I bought, so have ordered another, when that comes it will be time to leak test 24 hours before the hardware goes in.
Until then I will take out the case fans, replace them with the super quiet ones I have and braid up the wiring ready to route to the fan controller.
Very pleased with the pump, wonderfully quiet, although I am very pleased I rubber mounted and isolated it, as you can feel the vibration when you touch it !
I discovered some weeping on the radiator adaptor fittings.
The rad has different sized holes to most watercooling gear for some reason, (but it is British made so I guess it fits with our non-conformist mentality :roflmao:) and the particular fittings I am using don’t have that thread option, hence the adaptor fittings.
Anyhow, thats been sorted now
Typing from the wifes laptop … Water blocks now fitted, all assembled in case, and time for bed, tommorow brings the in situ final leak test
Apologies for the photos, clse up with flash isn’t good
If all goes well it will be time to tidy up a few bit and bobs and fire it up fully
Some small not so obvious tweeks, but a good few hours work … Mobo I suspect had some dry joints that came to light installing memory a month or so back, and didn’t cope with the transplant intact, so was swapped for a replacement but in BFG flavour (thanks Brigs :))
And the PSU was annoying me, it aint that loud, but as everything was geared for ultra low noise it was the loudest thing in the system.
So that was swapped out for a Corsair unit basically a Seasonic but with the 60mm fan removed for extra quietness.
Anyone want to buy a nice Enermax Galaxy 1000W modular ?
Wonderfully quiet now, but that did mean another cable routing session :o
While I was at it I tidyied the tubing a little as coming from the resovoir looked too wayward to me, I have to have some slack to slide the res forward for maintenance so I decided pipe clips would help tidy it up and I could just unhook the tube when I need to slide the res forward
Tel, lovely job and brave man, would’ve loved to have seen the missus’s face when she caught a look at that lot in the Kitchen!! “it’s for my beer luv”
Water cooling used to a noisy affair only for the OC mad scientists. Did you do it for OCing or for noise?
Next project to use beer cooling instead of water? With a tap
