Im working on a new skin from scratch.
Some of you know that I love the Hurricane. And as i am in a early war mood at the moment Im working on a Hawker Hurricane with canvas wings. I have no idea if such flew in the war, but i came across some blueprints showing it and I thought i have to do them. I plan to paint them for Britain,Belgium, France and Netherlands. I know not all had these planes, but I think they will fit fine in some BOF and BOB scenario :slight_smile:

They most certainly did Paf.

its traditional build with fabric stretched over metal frame work meant that the Hurricane was very durable and proved far more resistant to exploding canon shells than the metal Spitfire.

I would imagine the canvas winged variety would have been in France in early 1940 and some probably were in the BoB. However from the vast majority in france and in the BoB were the metal wing type.

All that said there aren’t many skinned in IL2 that are the early canvas winged type, so I applaud your choice. The ribbed effect you have on the wings looks very effective, well done mate. Can’t wait to see some of the progress shots you’re going to post :slight_smile:

Nice work mate, cant wait to see the final peace.
A lot of people have skined the Metal wing hurri and spits which is getting boring now, i also like your choice.
Have you seen Shooters Hurri he has almost finished, he is thinking of not publishing it though.
I am a huge Hurricane fan so cant wait to see it in battle against a 109 E:D

Always when im feeling i dont have fun anymore drawing lines or adding rivets :rolleyes:
I do something else on the skin.
So i tried to get some different surface-effects.
Here you can see work in progress, metal and canvas surface.
Im quite happy with the metal-effect I did on the wings. But you can see it doesnt look that good at the nose :frowning: I think they will get different layers then.

Also im not that happy with the look of the canvas ribbling on the wings.
Thats always the problem, when looking at the skin again the other day :slight_smile:

At the moment im using the camo from Servals Template as a placeholder, to see how some effects look at it.
Im planning to do generic skins for BoF with it first.
They won’t be really historical correct, but I want to fly with them.
What I have in mind:
Belgium
Netherlands
France
Britain
They will be without markings, just in some typical camo of these airforces.

After that i plan to do some historical skins.

But im really after the BOF scenario, even when those airforces didnt used this type of aircraft :slight_smile:
