I dont have tv or pc monitor yet here in Dublin. My question is, do any one have experience using a tv as PC monitor? not only for gaming, also to work with word processors.
The other option would e to buy a 26 pc monitor and use it as tv.
Opinions?

I use a 32" 1080p for gaming, writing this on it in fact.
Works well for me
I think there are a few others in the EAF that do the same
Thanks Brigs
How is it for general work like Office suite? My wife would use it to work every day.
We made up our mind, I will buy a 24-26 pc monitor that we will use as tv and then take with me back to Spain.
I don’t have any issues using it for general computer stuff like the internet and office type tasks.
However I think for a desk mounted solution, a smaller screen might work better for a wfe who has no interest in gaming.
You may be making a good choice going for the smaller monitor for the PC stuff, but for gaming and TV bigger is better
I use a larger 37" 1080p for TV, PS3 and my HTPC in the living room.
Problem is complex Brigs
My wife will use it for work, but I will use it for gaming. And, because we don’t want to buy a TV, we will watch movies.
Too many compromises to really get to a perfect solution, I know.
ASUS has a big 27 inches 1920x1080 monitor at a very good price of 250eur, the VX279Q, but Im lost about all the technologies, AH-IPS and the like. For example, ASUS has a VN279Q monitor for 100 eur more and I can’t tell the difference!
Crazy
My two pennies…
I have in my home office a 27" 1920x1080 that I use also for gaming.
I must say that sometimes 8 hours of working on it are heavy, it’s very big and my desktop not so, this obliges me to stay quite too near.
For gaming it’s perfect, I use it very close because I love reading all flight info just from gauges, no chat, no windows no headings.
In my company’s office we have two 32" TV used for meetings and presentations.
Seemed to me also good for gaming but have some doubts for all day working…
Have you heard BANZAI? He gave me a lot of good advices on this.
Thanks Walty! you men you sit less than 1 meter away from the monitor? or even that is not sufficient?
I will contact Banzi asap.
Banzi is a Master in this
For general purpose gaming at no more then arms reach from the screen, 24" is perfect screen size for me determined by trial and error in last couple of years.
To me 1920*1200 resolution looks equally good across 23"-27" range. For that resolution with gaming only in mind, 24" proved the best since I see details in corners better and it was easier to read them without shifting eye focus much on 24" then it is on my current 26".
But since you are going to use it also for TV some 27" Samsung model with TV tuner seems like a good choice too.
Don’t think you can go much wrong here, just wanted to point out the fact that there is a limit to bigger equals better philosophy when it comes to fast paced gaming. Some people like to ignore it for the wow effect of bigger display, but I value performance over eye candy when competing in clan wars at various FPS games. Just think about what you will be using it for the most, then pick one that has good reviews by users.
