Mods etc

Would someone be kind enough to walk me through the mods set up etc ! TIA

Make a complete copy of your Vanilla 4.08 into a seperate folder (as a back-up) and then download this http://allaircraftarcade.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7688

Install it into either folder and it will give you all you need to get going, anything else we can go through as and when.

will do this t/night, thanks.

I’d like to add that for ease of use and maintenance Magpie I would advise you to do the following

  1. Always keep a clean copy of IL2 1946 4.08 installed somewhere on your hard drive. This is an emergency use only installation that should remain untouched. If ever you need a new installation to add new mods etc you can simply copy this folder. I have made my reserve copy read only to prevent mishaps.

  2. A second installation (a clone of above) should be used to apply mods to, call it ‘IL2 1946 Mods’ or something similiar. Into this folder you can apply every mod that you like (Kris’ above is about the best out there) The last thing to do for this installation is to install the switcher utility which can be found at AAA (http://www.allaircraftarcade.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1932) Once completed you can use the switcher to switch this installation around between 4.08, 4.08 with mods, 4.09 and 4.09 with mods.

  3. A third installation (a clone of the first again) should be created to use when we fly in IL2 War. This installation needs one mod applying to it and only the one mod, any more and you will not be compatible with IL2 war. The mod to install into this folder can be found here, http://www.il2war.com/ in the ‘Greece 41’ news heading download IL2War-Sound-Mod-Pack_1.2. Once you have that installed into this folder you can take part in any mission that we fly on training nights.

Other people may tell you that you only need one installation but in my experience using one installation can get very time consuming and prove frustrating when things go wrong, so if you have the HDD space I think you will find that the method above proves most effective, with the added bonus that if something does go wrong you always have a clean 4.08 ready to start again with a quick copy and paste.

If you need any more assistance or links to anything else just ask.

I see you have to register at all a/c arcade, however when I try it is borked and I can’t register so can’t d/l the bloody mods

when you say ‘borked’ can you expand on that? perhaps we can help from here

Registration code is J3ll0M0ld
Needs to be exact mate

Yep tried that in IE and FireFerret still no joy. Borked means Kaput

Ok… this caught me out initialy when I tried to register… But Chris is right, you have to be exactly correct… it took me several attempts trying different combinations of what I thought the code was… when you get it you will kick yourself as to why you didn’t input it correctly first time…

First few times I could not register, then I found I was leaving a space before the first code letter, after that I was straight in.

Alternatally, e-mail here mailto:aaa_support@tiscali.co.uk with a request to register

I got it all  just need to pluck up the courage to start clicking on it
