Sorry it has taken so long. I believe people from both sides have been away on leave, or with work, or enjoying the sun etc.
I’ve been working with Swoop and sounding things out between 79vRAF and EAF. The only real sticking point was over where the tags fit in! (and a delay over us finding out what happens with some of the logistics of our current forum and the payment etc.)
If it is all still ok for EAF we would like to submit for 79vRAF to join EAF as a squad and take you up on the original offer a month trial to see how it goes, if this is still agreeable?
I appreciate that this will create some work for people, if I can be of any assistance please let me know. We have really enjoyed flying with EAF previously, I’ve had a couple of excellent experiences of flying with different members on Storm of War, and of course we’ve all had Flash as a Ground Controller - something I am hoping to be working with him on this evening, as I know how difficult it can be working it alone.

Hey Tom and you are all very welcome mates, I’ve just posted up in our Briefing room an update for the EAF lads about you chaps joining us, for a months trial but hopefully long term. I’ve just emailed you back. Loads of us are on breaks so its a bit quiet in here right now.

I have a couple of the DCS Sims, Blackshark II, A-10, P-51 and the Huey. I’ve not been on them in some time though. Manilow also has all of those, as far as I am aware though no one else does. I’ve never played Rise of Flight, was that the WWI sim based on CFS3? Considering I only recently got 79 to go to Cliffs of Dover, Battle of Stalingrad is maybe a bridge too far :rolleyes:
Cliffs is our main sim, just in the quiet summer months we are going to fly other stuff on a Monday. We’re going to give that ago this Monday, with sow on a Thursday.
BoS is a lot better now. The flight model is superb across all aircraft types. The damage modelling is great also, not just for the aircraft but for the ground units as well. For example, when compared to IL2, when you hit an enemy tank it would clearly go kaboom. In the case of BoS it either emits smoke, slows down or goes kaboom, depending where you actually hit it. They also travel in a manner that is more accurate, not in a daisy chain fashion in a straight line. That alone poses another problem for the attacking pilot. Another example is trying to hit a train. Unlike the old IL2 trains that just emitted a few black puffs from the chimney in open ground, the BoS trains emit steam whislt travelling along a tree lined track. As you close in on one the steam actually condenses on your windshield obscuring the target and making the trees hazardous at the same time. Another minor but most impressive feature.
There are also some other well thought out features. When you taxi, you can hear the snow crunching underneath your tyres. The gunfire sounds are out of this world. You can hear the pneumatics working when you work the undercarriage and flaps. Just a few examples off the top of my head.
The message from Swoop on SoW last night was to stick with the 79 on Storm of War for now. I don’t think we’re changing things here just yet either. The plan was for a month trial of things, see how they go and then if everyone is happy things can start to transition If that’s not quite right please correct me.
Vortex is back now and should be online on Sunday’s. Viper is normally online, but at the moment is in Germany. Chairman can only fly with us on the Sundays due to the time difference - but he’s on most weeks. Mani just doesn’t fly anymore! He might be interested in DCS though. I’m normally online with him on Monday evenings so I will put it to him. I need to install all of my DCS again though…it’s been a while!
Hopefully we can start to get people registering here and start to get involved
