First official Mention in Despatches

Flight Lieutenant Classic, European Air Force, 19 Squadron

For developing an effective method of attacking heavily defended enemy airfields, the Rodeo attack, and leading a flight of eight IL2’s during the Stalingrad SEOW attempting this attack on 20 Nov 1942. The result was complete annihilation of the airfield’s defenses and all parked aircraft albeit at the cost of three IL2’s and their crew. This was a sad price to pay but the effect on enemy numbers and moral was significant and of some significant recompense.

Well deserved, Classic.

And good to see our MID thread, a good way to recognise pilots’ efforts.

Excellent!! Well deserved!

I am humbled, thank you Sir.

Second official Mention in Despatches

Squadron Leader Mram, European Air Force, 331 Squadron, Post Humous

For his courage, grit and determination in taking the fight to the enemy. This excellent officer lead his flight of fighters escorting swarms of IL2’s into the jaws of the luftwaffe with skill, dedication and with the upmost duty and care with each and every mission putting the lives of our attack pilots before his own. He succesfully flew 9 such combat missions returning with 7 confirmed kills and several probables and saving the lives and aircraft of our attack units. It is a sad day for the VVS with the fall of this aviator, Squadron Leader Mram who during his 10th such escort mission on 22nd November 1942 at approx 07:45hrs fell in combat with Bf109s. Yet again despite the overwhelming number of enemy fighters he did his duty and protected the vulnerable IL2s.

It was sad to see him crash in a fight to the death, right infront of us. A brave man who put the life of others above himself.

His actions were legendary!

Salute!

He will be remembered, and he will be back.

Salute Mram.

We will erect a bronze statue of our great pilot at the gates of Stalingrad when victory is ours!

Well done m8.

He was a shining star in this dark days…
