Medals, Medals, Medals...:)

Gentlemen,

With a new Storm of War campaign imminent, HQ wanted to take stock of the fine accomplishments of the pilots that took part in defending Britain so resoundingly and reward their achievements. Personally I was impressed how well our Squadrons combined and feel this is a truer reflection of what the EAF is all about. We can build on this success and the next campaign looks to have some new and challenging features ahead which we are well placed to deal with.

With the awards, we have been keen to reward teamwork and hopefully set challenging but achievable goals (ps - these are for achievements in one life). Right here we go

Air medal Ferrying 15 planes or more -

EAF79_Vortex = 16

Defence Medal
for 15 confirmed kills (Kills=1 Shared=1/2 Assit=1/3) and or 15 Sorties alive including up to 3 ferrying flights

EAF322_Bob surviving 17 missions
EAF331_Mikke Surviving 21 missions with 18 kills
EAF331_Stuntman, surviving 26 missions with 22.5 kills
EAF322_Pax for surviving 16 missions
EAF331_Mram for surviving 20 mission with 18 kills
EAF51_Luft survived 18 sorties 7 bomber sorties + 6 recons
EAF_T_Dedalo survived 19 sorties (6 ferries)
EAF51_Walty ace with 15 kills in 10 sorties
EAF51_Storm survived 25 sorties (12 ferries)
EAF51_Bianco2 survived 24 sorties (12 ferry)
EAF51_TonyRule for surviving 23 missions and 12 kills

Additionally the following pilots are also rewarded -

DFC (Distinguish Flying Cross) for 25 kills and or surviving 30 sorties including up to 5 ferrying and any mix of Recon + Bombing

EAF51_Cappe survived 48 sorties with 12 kills, 8 bomber sorties and 10 ferries
EAF51_Jimmi survived 56 sorties (8 ferries) and an Ace with 43 kills
EAF51_Banzai survived 54 sorties (10 ferries) and an Ace 40 kills
EAF19_Swoop for surviving 35 missions with 11.5 kills and 4 bombing sorties
EAF79_OD for surviving 32 missions with 24 kills and 1 bomber sortie
EAF79_Vortex for surviving 43 missions with 11 kills and 16 ferries

It’s been decided as both of these pilots were so close to this award with fine records and just good eggs, have also got it -
EAF51_GIN survived 29 sorties and 10 kills
EAF602_Red for surviving 29 missions with 20 kills

Two other Medals are available but no takers just yet - they are

Air Crew Europe for 15 successful Recons flights and/or 15 successful bombing sorties
(Medal pic to follow)

and the big gong itself, the Victoria Cross for 100 sorties survivors and/or 50 kills
(Medal pic to follow)

So not to let some of our newer pilots miss out, if you flew over five missions you will get a smaller version of this campaign medal, -

Jimmi (and likely me) in time will be adding these awards to pilots records on the new website Jimmi is developing, so watch this space, however feel free to add to sigs etc.

WELL DONE ALL!!

Congrats everyone!

Very nice work everyone.
Impressive stats indeed.

ehm…my stats says 15 ferries…

WOW!
Well done mates!

Sorry Siggy, this is in one life not totals. According to stats the highest you made was 8 in one life.

Mram and TonyRule added to the Defence Medals, sorry mates we missed those ones.

Any others please let us know.

I missunderstood the terms for the medals, and you don’t wrote about in one life.
Sorry.

Congrats chaps, well deserved recognition!

Congrats to all the EAF crews, we have done a great job and we had very funny nights… thanks to everybody!

Well done to everyone, Lets see if we can do even better when SoW 3.0 starts

Stevie

Is there much call for ground pounders yet?

Call me when the RAF is issued Typhoons

Would a Beau do, Sir?

If all goes well with TEAM FUSION, I would fancy cracking up some ships and airfields.

It would indeed!

Night fighter ops?

Night Intruder missions would be great. I don’t think ATAG hosts night missions as a reglar thing, only on planned events.

We should press on to get night missions in SOW once the Beau is out.

Phil’s just produced some campaign medals you SOW you lads might want, I’ve reduce them down but also some at full size -

By Phil - Inspired by the Forum signatures of Racetrack and The Italian Ace. . . SoW has created some Campaign Ribbons for poeple to download and resize for use in their forum signatures.

The following two images are available. They are currently 350 pixels wide X 110 pixels high.
(the same proportions as The Italian Ace’s medals in his forum sig)

they will scale down to 40 pixels high and still be quite readable.

The two ribbons we have made so far are:
Campaign 1: For pilots who flew in the old “event” campaigns that SoW used to run before going 24/7
Image

Campaign 2: For pilots who flew in SoW 2.0

I’m not fussed about “policing” how these are used. I don’t want to set minimum participation levels to use them or anything. Folks who know that they were involved in the above campaigns are welcome to use these on this forum and any other forum they choose.
Squads may also “award” these to players according to their own systems if they chose. Although, they are not historical in appearance… given the giant SOW logo on them!
