I remember this time, it was in one of these boring, high-officers meeting between squadrons, when a high-rank officer of JZG squadron told me, 6 months after I was made a T/O: “how come you are STILL a T/O!?”
I thought, maybe this is how Luftwaffe punish bad or problematics pilots: make them T/Os.
Well, its now 7 years long in this road for me, and I can say that I never felt that. Being T/O has been a honour for me, and a real pleasure. My time with the trainees have been the best of my online flying.
But now I have to leave. I dont have the time to do things right, to give proper attention to trainees while being a good CO for the 51 Stormo 20º Gruppo.
A second reason is that I feel that EAF OTU needs a new hand at the controls.
I will stay 2 weeks more as T/O, as to give all current trainees the opportunity to finish training. Then it’s over.
All of us owe you a debt for the long, dedicated and selfless service you have provided.
The “terror” of the OTU shall be missed !.
I for one have good memories of being requested to fly wingman to you as a new pilot, recently having achieved my wings. I was bloody terrified :roflmao:.
All the very best with your tenure as C/O of 51stormo. ( i might even never mention 52 stormo now )
7 (close to 8 actually!) years is a long time. I was officially T/O for 1,5 years, part of it as the only T/O, and while it was great fun, it is also work, not to be taken lightly, and can be taxing at times.
OTU have evolved a lot since I left it, very much thanks to Nepe.
A big thank you for all your work Nepe, and I hope we can find someone to fill your shoes.
Damm…
Looking back I think I actually saw this comming
It have been a real pleasure Nepe been tought by you
Lets see who can and will fill your virtual office
But now, due to an unexpected blow in RL, Im afraid I need to take that month of leave now, so I will not be able to give this weeks training. Im sorry.
Thanks for all the years mate, i remember you taking me up there back in 2003 when i was a trainee, the basics are the most important for a pilot to grow up with good roots.
S! Mate hope your real life issues be behind you quickly.
