I registered a while ago and it looks like I have been accepted to become an EAF trainee, so it’s time for me to introduce myself a bit further than I already did.
I started flying IL-2 in 2004, started flying online in 2005 and was introduced to full real settings in the same year.
After having been shot down 3000 times without ever having a chance I finally made my first online kill one day, and since then the addiction has deepened…
I flew in a number of online wars, mostly those that use the dynamic campaign generator. I thought these campaigns added something very nice.
I visited some LAN parties, the most notable being the LowLand TigerMeet, which is the “european championship” for IL-2 pilots and that was a blast!
Then came my introduction to SEOW.
I flew my first mission in an SEOW campaign in 2009 and have flown about 175 of those since then. I think it’s the most realistic thing you can do in IL-2, even if some flights turn out to be quite uneventful. But the strategic elements in SEOW make up for that; even if you “only” patrol and no enemies show up, it can still be a challenge if, for instance, you have a 2 hour patrol in an aircraft whose fuel will only last for 90 minutes if you don’t manage your engine.
Thats the flying part of me.
The non- flying part is me being an independent consultant operating in the Netherlands.
I have been married long enough to have 2 children that are quite independent and a wife that gives me plenty of room to fly IL-2 a couple of times a week
There are a few other games I play, most notably Men of War - Assault Squad. One could say my main interest is WWII.
I am looking forward to flying with EAF, mostly because of the seriousness and the toroughness that i have seen. Besides that I think EAF is quite well- organised, just the way I like it. I think I can learn a lot here.
Snafu out.
