Internal EAF Invitation to a little SEOW in Italy

Background
Within the next 7 days 331 will start a seow campaign in Italy. The original purpose of this campaign where to familiarize 331 pilots with the planning of a seow ground and airwar on a very fundamental level and have some structured fun which only coop mission can give. Italy was chosen because EAF 331 have been flying coop combat missions in P-38’s in Sicilly.

Historical setting
The campaign are meant to reinact part the war waged in Italy from the 12th of September 1943 and forward.
Just three days before the British landed in Taranto (Operation Splastick) and just one day before the Allies had landed on the beached near Salerno.
We have tried to get this as close as historical possible. Most of the units names and available planes and ground units are historical correct. The Axis strength are reduced but are not historical. They will be limited in their supplies. The breakdown rate have been downplayed as well. The Axis serviceability are still lower than the Allies but nowhere the 50% which are historic.

SEOW settings
We have choosen the Italy-Africa-Greece map for the campaign which unfortunately are only ¼ scale. In order to compensate for this all planes will be restricted to 25% fuel but commanders have the options of using droptanks. Fuel management is essential.
The missions are restricted to 1 hour.
Unless the popularity demands, all Axis planes will be flown by AI’s and are hidden.

Seats
Since we are not in possession of a dedicated IL2 coop server we are restricted to 8-12 seats. Where 4 are reserved to EAF331. Seat can be reserved by other EAF pilots or Sqds.

Game version
HSFX 4.11 + 6DOF
(Server will be run by from an ultrapack installation in HSFX mode

Skinpack
A skinpack will soon be available as download from EAF FTP under 331.

Time
We expect to fly the first mission the monday the 13th of september.

Monday and thursdays.

Further information will soon be available 331 Sqd forum

Good luck guys!

I can’t make this Monday, but could fly this on Thursday. I’ll see what the other 19 pilots want to do.

Thanks for running this.

Will UP2.01 be ok to fly this campaign?

ultrapack installation in HSFX mode

Ah  - so I do not need to reinstall HSFX please?

Great idea, thanks Starfire.

Maybe 51 can join someday, if you find places for us.

Is this a request for ICAF units

The map have been initialized and the Warlords of both sides have been notified. I expect I can initiate build of the first mission on thursday
Lets see what the Warlords have in store for us

Is this a request for ICAF units

Luftwaffe would suit us just as well

Just to make things clear:

Starfire, it was my understanding that 51 could maybe take the Axis AI planes. Sorry if I was wrong, but we are too many to fit in the allied slots.

Unless the popularity demands, all Axis planes will be flown by AI’s and are hidden.

There are many ‘if’s’ in this Nepe. I have never been behind such a venture as this. I have been running my own private campaign for the last two months, but usually with no more than three participants on a lot small map.
I have read a lot about hostingcapacity but in our case we do NOT have our own didicated server. This mean that it will be running from my own gaming rig while I play on it. Not something I am entirely comftable with. I guess I can provide between 8-12 slots.

Originally the axis planes where never thought to be available to humans when we have so few slots available. But if we had access to a dedicated server…

Thanks Starfire, I didnt realize the problems to fit so many of us.

A question…would it not be possible to have the SEOW planner in EAF’s (errrrrrr, Mikke’s :)) server, as I suppose that not would be too heavy on hardware, build the mission and then run it in someones own powerful PC?

My idea for EAF training nights would be a EAF-dog server with Zuti Mod (or without, if anyone still have problems with mods) as a meeting place for EAF pilots, and then run a short, simple SEOW mission with a good debriefing at the end.

And sorry if I am hijacking 331’s SEOW, Im just letting my mind wander…

No problem. Thats the way idears are born.

Thats is more or less the way it is run right now.
except for the Mikke’s server part.

I have to move the rest of the discussion to the Briefing room since I don’t feel comftable writing about such setups in public
