Hi Hans,
I don’t have the game, because lack of money
But I can tell you, that the game sold in germany has german interface.
A merged install is not possible.
So you have 2 choices.
Install it in your il2 folder, backup all important files, for joystick/keymapping etc. and copy them back after install of '46.
Problem: You noe have version 4.07 and you cannot switch back to 4.05, which is a problem becasue there is no dedicated server with the DVD!!!
Second choice is to install the game a second time in a different folder and swap the personal seetting files.
There is no problem running several Il2 installations side by side , except running low on HD-space maybe
The IL2 forum on http://www.simhq.com has lots of info on how to load '46 with the least amount of hassle.
With the new install, the rts.dll nocd no longer works unless you install '46 as a seperate install and swap out the core '46 files and add them to your old FB/PF install.
I’ve a feeling Boonty will be considered a walk in the park compared to the hoops we’ll have to jump through to get '46 in a playable condition
Hmm, except for the memory (1 gb here) your PC is bigger, newer and faster than mine. The program did not really change except for the new copy protection.
2.2 Ghz cpu
512 mb Ram
128 mb gfx card
is this the most pathetic pc in the EAF:roflmao:
And i have a german “QWERTZ” keyboard (but my set up is english), i can’t even speak german:rolleyes:
yes I think its the lack of RAM, because changing the graphicsettings doesnt do alot to it.
I brought another 512MB last year but it didnt work. My pc just ran 5 mins with 1GB and than rebooted.
Maybe someone has an idea about this?
Try to switch the 2 memories.
It sounds too simple, but my portable had 512Mb RAM. As i bought another 512Mb and put it in place, the computer showed bluescreen.
Then I got the tip to switch them, and problem was solved.
It’s tricky because if you are thinking of bringing your system up to more contempory standards you’ll need a PSU as well. To get a PSU, CPU, Mobo, 2 Gig of Ram and a Graphics card £350 wont cover it.
Plus Mobo and 2 gig of ram will be more expensive than £120. In reality 2 gig of ram and a good graphics will cost £300. Which maybe the best option for you if you want to improve you PC performance.
If you want to bring your PC up to date then £500-£600 is a more reasonable price range.
EDIT:Just did a quick spin around OCUK and hit £540 on a A64 3700, DFI mobo, 2gig of budget unbranded DDR, Nv7900gs and basic ATX 2.0 PSU.
Thinking about your predicament, I would suggest just upgrading the graphics. Your 2.8 AMD is still enough to run IL2 reasonable well and 1 gig is all you really need for it too. Where your system bottlenecks is the GPU.
