Hi guys! Well, I need an upgrade for my PC. I bought i5 , mobo, ram, ssd and psu. And now I have 150-180 euro for a GPU…but I don’t know what’s the best choice for my pocket…any suggestion??? Nvidia or AMD?
THANKS TO ALL.
I have an Nvidia GTX660ti very happy with it
had a GTX 560ti which was good as well
The 660ti runs Battle of Stalingrad and Rise of Fight very well. nice and smooth.
well…I have 3 candidates

I’ve just read atag and il2 forums for clod and bos compatibility. (ask cirso for dcs…)
i think that with a 180-200€ card 2 or more gb you’ll run all actual flight sims…
+1 GTX 660 here seems a good compromise!

Put up with your current set up, wait and save another 100 Euros and go for a GPU with more memory. If you upgrade at your current price point you will only have a small bit of headroom over current flight sims/games. If you wait, you’ll get more bang/eye candy for your buck and a card with greater longevity.
Just my humble opinion…
I agree with Keets.
What is your GFX card you have at the moment.
That will decide if you “need” to upgrade now
If you have no GFX at the moment and have to get one, GTX660 is the one
Well…thanks folk. I read many reviews around this cards and the winner is… Radeon.
I’m very happy with my Nvidia GTX 560 Ti. I’ve had radeon as well…but now I prefer Nvidia.
+1
I used to bounce back and forth between Nvidia and ATI in the old days. But I’ve been solid Nvidia since the 8800’s from a few years back and it’ll take something very special from AMD to persuade me back to Radeon in my own PC. I got one of the kids a very cheap second hand 4850 for his PC a little while ago because his gaming needs on a PC are very limited (due to PS3 and handhelds being his choice for video games) and a low profile HD 7750 on my Media centre PC. I’ll use them for basic things like that but not for my high end needs.
2 flight sim specific things that stood out for me recently regarding Radeon cards.
CloD - Radeon users having to disable the intro video to get the game to run well
RoF - Shadow settings being separated for AMD and Nvidia due to the fact the Radeon didn’t have the necessary features to run the advanced shadow routines until recently.
I know they are “bang for buck” better than Nvidia, but I’d rather spend a little more for the Nvidia.
Just FYI…I’m still on my GTS8800, and happily flying/hosting with Perfect Map Textures on…
