how do i force vsync from inside il2?
What does Vsync do?
Vsync matches your monitors refresh rate/frequency, with a 3D applications frame rate.
In other words, It doesn’t let your frame rate go above your monitirs refresh rate.
85 Hz. = 85 FPS
100 Hz. = 100 FPS
and so on.
It also prevent tearing of you picture.
Tearing is when part of the picture you see sync a different times.
Whilst Vsync removes tearing, there’s a trade off/consideration.
With Vsync enabled, it also limits your possible frame rates to multiples of your refresh rate. e.g if you’re refresh rate is 60Hz and your graphics card is unable to hit 60 FPS due to the eye candy you have enabled, the next available FPS it will display is 30FPS even if your graphics card could display at 59 FPS. If the card dropped to 29 FPS Vsync would limit you to 15 FPS.
This is why people disable it for newer games. With IL2 you shouldn’t see that as much of an issue if your graphics card is of a newer generation.
“Triple buffer”
I haven’t turned off v-sync in any game/sim in years.
