Hello (Cheerio?)

My name is David and I’m from Dallas, Texas. I’m here because I’ve been wanting to get back into multiplayer combat flight sims and have been looking for a smaller group to get in with.

I started playing DCS about three years ago, but have never played anything but single player. I’ve been playing flights sims overall for about 27 years. Last time I did serious multiplayer stuff was when Janes FA was big on Mplayer. I’m open to acquiring any other sims that your group plays.

I have FC3, Ka-50, Mi-8, UH-1, FW190, P-51, F-86, Mig-15, F-5E, MiG-21, AJS-37, A-10C, M2000C, AV-8B, and F-18C, and CA. I plan on getting the Me109E and the Spitfire once I break enough rust off my prop skills. They’ve deteriorated to the point that it took almost a weekend for me to get the 190 off the ground regularly. My helo landings are still WIP, but my jet skills are decent.I also have the Normandy map and plan on grabbing the Persian Gulf map next time it’s on sale.

I spent four years in the Air Force as a armament systems specialist on F-16C/D models. After goofing off for a few years, I got back into aviation first working on small general aviation stuff, and then moving up to business jets. I’m currently a maintenance instructor for the Bombardier Challenger 300/350.

I usually get home from work around 1900GMT, so I should be good for all the scheduled stuff.

Hi David,

Good to hear from you! It’s definitely not cheerio (it means goodbye!), the primary focus of EAF is WW2, but we’ve been branching out in DCS (which obviously does still have WW2 elements). One of the things that is developing is a new form of the Storm of War server, which is an online campaign - traditionally based in WW2. It’s in early development phases and we’re helping with the testing where we can. They’re also looking at modern stuff as well though - and we tend to be using the Harrier in those missions.

We have a training team that focus on IL2 Battle of Stalingrad who should be able to help with the transition to multiplayer, there is a steep learning curve from single to multiplayer, in terms of air combat. We tend to fly ‘full real’, so no labels or external views; but once you adjust to this there is no going back!

Hopefully we can take you on and see you online soon!

OD

Welcome TJ!

Janes? I think thats even older than my first multiplayer sim, European Air War.

As OD said, we are mainly WW2 but many of us fly jets too (some of the lads are testing the IL tanks now too, I couldn´t stand the smell of 4 guys in a confined space, give me my cockpit). As for our sims, we fly IL2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover, IL2 BoS and DCS.

Is summer, so things can be a little slow these days, but a Training Officer will contact you soon. Meanwhile ask any question or join us in multiplayer. We use TeamSeak for comms.

Hope to see you soon in the air.

Hi David

Welcome to EAF. I am one of the training officers responsible for on-boarding and training.
I don’t know how much you have read on our site about us.
Our normal sqd days are monday and friday 1950-2359 CEST.
But since we have members with unusual work schedule and have relocated to the other side of our planet, some of us grab the chance to get some training in.

I guess from your post that you are interested in flying with us, so I will pm you our Teamspeak information.
That way will have the chance to talk to some of our members.
We also have a few WhatsApp groups for casual chats. A faster and more flexible to arrange some casual flying.
So I hope that you have WhatsApp.

Cheers

Welcome to EAF

The primary focus of EAF is WW2 so we need to get you combat ready on prop planes! And hopefully then participate in some historical campaign!
then if you want and fly jets too its not a problem!

I’m a T/O and can help you!
i fly both in Box and DCS!

if you want some training drop me a pm!

S!
