Harrier updates

As the title says this is to keep people up to date with what’s new, I know most of you go on the ED forum, but just in case you miss them

Today work started on the AV-8B Armament Control Panel. God willing we will have it ready fairly quick. The rework will include the AGM-65Es and revision of the CCRP, CCIP symbology.

This rework will also enabled the following UFC functions:

WPN: Weapons Delivery Programing

TOO: Target Of Oportunity.

TMR: Timing functions.

INS Designation (designating a waypoint/markpoint as a target).

Regarding the APKWS II rockets, their inclusion depends on how complex is defining laser guided missiles. If too complex, then they won’t be included. Otherwise I will add them to the weapons suite.

I didn’t notice laser guided missiles before…I’m sold!

KNOWN ISSUE: KC-135 drogue positioning not correct.
IR Maverick slew and lock updates
Stabilator indicator correction
Corrected water flowing on and off rapidly in Landing STO mode
Corrected MPCD glow not going off when MPCD goes off after being on
Corrected minor shake due to gear model when not moving with parking brake
Increase canopy open/close speed to match video references
Canopy open/close keyboard shortcut now automatically performs unlock handle
Corrected Radio COMM 2 not working in UFC mode
Corrected ARBS/DMT TDC bug.
IR/TV Mavs launch constrain keyhole is now active.
AGM-65Es are now active. Currently the missiles themselves are bugged in DCS but ED has fixed them. We’ll post a video as soon as the fix is available.
MPCD behavior after firing a Maverick has been updated.
IR/TV Mavs axis slew is now active.
STRS Page WPN FAIL message bug is now fixed. (The bug appears when using mavericks).
Weapon AUTO (CCRP) release mode improved logic, cues, and accuracy
NVG Brightness control

New update for the harrier

Another thing I noticed is there is no need to switch off the laser between targets

Latest thing is that they have removed a couple of the AGM-65 models and left us with the E and the G versions (G has the bigger warhead and is IR guided and E is laser guided).
There seems to be a bug with the DMT switch on and using Mavericks though.

Ive only had one problem using the laser mavs, when designated with the tpod and I uncage the first missile sometimes the tpod moves of the target and I need to re-adjust it, I’ve fired two with a 10sec delay after first missile hits you gotta be quick and move laser to the next nearest target.
Also there is a bug, the laser only reaches 8-9 miles, I’ve fired from 12 miles and flew towards the target still lasing and there’s no problem cos by that time your within 8 miles, but if you turn away the Mav flys towards the end of your laser beam and explode, hopefully this will be sorted soon

Next step after that will be the offsets.
Note: Multiple targetpoints not enabled yet.

As for Quicksteer …Aint got a clue but as soon as I know, you will

Update August 29, 2018:
NAV/INS updates including alignment and updates to the pocket guide with process (Complete but in testing)
VRST page updates (80% WIP some elements not populated or able to be controlled yet)
Corrected issue with max-G on HUD recorded with very high numbers from initialization on ground

Watching how to align INS… you can’t just turn it and hope for the best, you must enter the precise coordinates for the aircraft, including magnetic declination for it to work

Chuck has updated his guidehttps://www.mudspike.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/DCS-AV-8B-Harrier-Guide.pdf

Stevie

What’s VRST?
Not looking forward to the alignment, but I’m sure we’ll get used to it. Not been able to do it on the Mirage - but that could just be because it is in French!

Vrst is basically a calculator for your weight… INS isn’t to bad to set up, but it can take upton3 minute to initialise… server side will probably have it aligned already I hope

Stevie

Three minutes isn’t bad. Takes forever in the A-10C and the Mirage (think that’s 8 minutes). Sounds similar to the Hornet, so it’ll be fine. Just a shame you can’t move while it’s taking place.
