Recently bought a gtx580 but when I run COD the graphics gets very distorted and I can´t figure out why.
I unplugged the old Nvidia card and installed the new one with the drivers that came with the package. When I noticed problem in COD I installed the latest drivers from Nvidias homepage. No improvement. What happens is that I can get into the game and the menus look alright. I have tried everything from high to low settings in graphics menu with the same result. One thing I noticed is that anti-aliasing is set to off and there is no other option? When I choose a mission the graphics gets scrambled but I noticed that the card works in the sence that I can now fly very low without stutters. The card seems ok in it self since I can put everything on max settings in IL-2 with great frame rates. No overheat issue I think since it happens straight away and I can afterwards fly our beloved old il-2 sim and work in windows.
I have not touched any settings in the nvidia control panel. I run 1280x1024 on win XP, i7-cpu ,4 gig ram (3 used since xp), 850w PSU, 21" 4:3 screen.
I would throw out XP and install Win7x64, sooner or later you will have to do it.
Otherwise get a prog like Drivercleaner and remove all graphic drivers, restart computer and install latest drivers from Nvidia.
Thx guys for your replies. My problem is exact the same mentioned in Sporrans link! Hopefully the card is not broken then as it seem XP related? Someone had tested the 270 drivers but it did not work either.
Will start looking around for a win7x64 and see if it solves this. Will report back but it might take some time.
At least you can take the consolation that its not your hardware playing up.
You are right Sporran. I have now updated to win7x64 and did a quick test on COD. And the problem is solved!!
As I scrapped XP I have also retired my wonderful Saitek X-36 and am now yanking a X-52 pro instead. A lot of programming to do but it starts to fall in place.
