Hi,
It has been quite some time since I was here, but I finally got fiber connection! I wonder what simms you are using nowadays, so I can get into flying agian. I have IL2 BOS and BOM in my computer.
Is there still a 331 wing in EAF? I quitted flying because we moved into the countryside (bad internet…), since then I have been training 2 border collie dogs and played some chess, but I would like to come back to flight simms.
Please let me know what you are up to these days hans.pahlen<at>gmail.com aka EAF331_Hans.
You are a sight for sore eyes, Hans
How are you?
All well?
331 Sqd are still there but they are not really flying as a coherrent units.
Mram are flying Cliffs of Dover
Stuntman are flying a bit of everything;
Mikke are mostly flying DCS;
Apollo is mostly flying BoS/BoM/BoK
…I think
and I flying BoS/BoM/BoK.
(BoS/BoM/BoK are refered to BoX as In Battle of X, these days)
Well, I am just fine, a bit older like all of us.
I have BOX up and running, except for a lot of config work that needs to be done… and my TIR is unfortunately broken (the track clip is broke) but working. I have also ordered a MSI 1060 card, as my present Nvidia 780 seems to be unhappy with BOX and crashes after a couple of minutes.
I am living in a house surruonded by woods, so I have tractor and chainsaws to play with, as well as our second border collie, who is one year now.
New graphics card arrives tomorrow, and new TIR sent from Germany hopefully in a couple of more days. I will warm up by flying some missions with AI before going online. It is damn hard to navigate on the snowy Stalingrad map.
My old joystick Logitech G940 is working fine, as well as my headset.
In the game my callsign is “Tuva” (name of my old dog that passed away), I try to change at il2 site, but nothing happens. Just so you know.
Good to see you again Hans and more of 331. MRam is flying Clod and Mikke DCS, but alot of us are now trying BOX and its really matured and Kuban map and Spitfire are things of beauty.
Sounds like you have a peaceful life style and toys to enjoy it with in a tractor and a chainsaw.
As you’ve already read, DCS is my primary ride nowdays, though my flying have been very limited lately. I flew yesterday for the first time in over 2 months, and in general it’s been quite limited the last couple of years, well more or less since 10 years back to be honest, especially compared to my early ears when I flew almost daily for hours…
Oh well, BOS is running stable now with my Nvidia 1060 (MSI), Teamspeak is configured and ready.
Now I am only waiting for my new TIR to arrive here, it came to Malmo this afternoon (I only missed the hat and clip, but bought a new anyway…)
Two questions:
What are the usual flying days?
How do I find the EAF training server? (I guess I can get help via TS)
@Mikke I remember your great shooting skills, you could hit anything from any angle. I guess you will never loose your feel for that, even after a rest
/Hans
Still mondays and thursdays, haven’t flown enough to say for sure what the best times are now, for me usually a bit too late (I get up around 5 in the mornings, so no late flying for me nowdays).
someone else have to answer, but I think our TS-server is still the way to find people.
My shooting is not what it used to be unfortunately, but not horrible yet (I think).
Hi Hans!
I’m still just a trainee so i can tell you only what i know so far. Mondays and thursdays are still a go, guys training me in BoS, there is a EAF server with a password that Starfire manages. We also fly on Finnish virtual pilots server and Berloga for dogfight practice.
I don’t know do they play Clod and DCS lately, somebody else should answer you that.
Cheers!
