Given the issues we have had to face with the Gothic line campaign.
I suggested and alternative campaign to Gross last night. Something simpler and more to my personal liking.
I joined Gross in one of WB’s BoB coops to show him a flavour of the channel
The BoB campaign would IMO need some restrictions, on loadout for the 109 to simulate the short fuel situation over England, and high level and formation carpet bombing from the bombers and the heavy bombs on the Ju88 and He111 could make airfield decimation missions far too easy. Just my opinions but dont make an impassable mountain for a SEOW campaign
BoB on a large scale over the channel map against human oppos!! WoW!
Re: the airfield decimation loophole (ie a few JU-88s with 2,500kgers putting the RAF out of action on the first mission) - perhaps can we specify ‘active’ airfields every mission that are allowed to be targeted - similiar to the active factory rule in Italy SEOW. Maybe allow them 4 active targets (of which two will be actually attacked in the mission) so that there is still an amount of guesswork and feinting as to the RAF defending the right target?
SeaLion sounds cool - but thousands of ground objects + an unoptimised beta map might be asking for trouble…
Mmmmmmm… Spitfires, Dover, White Cliffs and Vera Lynn
Any chance of a gentleman’s agreement with 22GCT to keep ‘externals’ on for this one, so those who are (shot down in the vicars garden/bobbing in a dinghy/carried on the wings of angels) can watch the action unfold on these critical summer days…?

I am sure NO ONE in the EAF is using externals during the game, unless he is dead. We always kept external on just for this pourpose: aving the pleasure to look the other fighting while you are dead.
The prerequisite is obviously you trut the gentlemen behauviour of the enemy.
In any case i definetly support Flashheart’s proposal
Last night i flew the Gothic Test mission using a borrowed pc, i navigated my B24 to target got bombs on target and then had the pleasure of seeing tracer flying past my cockpit, my poor co pilot was killed and i lost some of my controls to the fighter who later fell to my gunners fire. I really enjoyed this and the prospect of the Gothic campaign was fantastic but the gremlins got to us and it looks like all the hard work put in largely unseen will unfortunately will not deliver us this campaign, but i appreciate all done to try and deliver it.
All those who flew the previous Malta campaign with 22 GCT had a great time and the idea of flying against the same honourable opponents in a Battle of Britain context is great.
The 109 and the Spit have fuelcapacity that reflects the realworld.
It the map in question does not take fuelconsumtion into account I think both ALL planes should get a fuelcap (think that is the right word!?).
Especially now when the 303 MGs (and the 50 cal)damage have been enhanced on the Allied planes in the AIW modded version.
I still wonder why the Axies 7.72mm & 13mm have not been enhanced, since they have the approximate same caliber as the Allies guns.
Apart from that I think a BoB campaing is OK, but I suggest using the AAA Unified modded Version since it proven and more stable. I am really tired of bieng a beta tester.
I want to hear Brigs and Gross opinion on the matter, but using unified mod sounds good to me, as it would probably make it easier for 19/310/322 to participate.
Edit:
Also the issues with Gothic Line were not down to the mod. They were related to the map and Java memory issues, which we were struggling to resolve. This has been a bug in the new larger maps used online since PF was released.
Also of note, the AWI 2009 pack uses mods available in the UI and found on AAA as well as some extra content we provide. Some of the issues we have found are not from our content. The MKVIII spit varients are a good example. The radiator issue was found and fixed by AWI (Veltro) and that info sent to the author of the MKVIII varients.
We can provide a better environment for the campaign than the UI. BoB specific default Skins, Squadrons and markings for example.
UI 1.1.1 does not give you this
Those markings are not on the Skin, nor are those Squadrons IL2 defaults.
Having the right Sqd numbers have no relevance for the functionality. There are hardly anyone among us that uses the ID tags on the side of the a/c for anything. Something that needs a range of less than 200m.
I candy should not be the decieding issue. I think it is more important to the the maximum number of EAF’s with in this one.
There is little difference in the installation of UI 1.1.1. and AWI 2009.
UI has all the same issues we have in AWI, try connecting to a UI 1.1.1 CRT=2 server with UI 1.1.1.
As I said above the problems in Gothic line were not AWI 2009 related they were map related.
Just remember this is a AWI campaign not an AAA campaign, that is the deciding factor.
