GeForce4 MX440 64mb

should I even attempt Il-2 with this card?:roflmao:

I borrowed a graphics card from a friend after my Radeon 9800 bit the dust, and they took it back yesterday. But I found this lurking in a drawer!

yes Dozer …with 4 /5 fps…

I sent Zulu a 5900gt that he (now) does’nt need, ask him if he still has it and will he send it on

EEEK !!!

I used a mx440 for original il2, upgraded quickly when i got forgotten battles though, i seem to recall it has a setting for these cards in il2setup.exe.

Out of interest, do you still have the 9800, and if so is the heatsink fan ok ?

Sporran

Thanks, there is a new(er!) graphics card in the pipeline!

I haven’t installed the 9800 since December but I think the fan worked fine then.

Hmm, Wikipedia is confusing me. “Likewise, the entry-level FX 5200 did not perform as well as the DirectX 7.0 generation GeForce 4 MX440, despite the FX 5200 possessing a notably better ‘checkbox’ feature-set.” The FX5200 is the card I’ve just given back to the guy who I borrowed it from. And the previous article completely slated the GeForce 4, especially the budget MX range. Yet I understand the FX5200 is about a generation behind the 9800Pro, and the MX440 is two generations behind? Gah, this is why I don’t upgrade until something breaks…

hey dozer, im guessing its an agp card your looking for? ive recently upgraded after spending weeks scouring forums, reading reviews and benchmarks, its the case that newer aint always better like you describe, in the end it was a choice between a top end 8600GT, or a 7900GTX 512mb, i got the 7900 and it flies. but anyway, ive got my old card on ebay now dozer but its pci-e, if its any good for ya ill end the auction, otherwise in a cupboard somewhere i have an old nvidia TI4600 64mb and even better a ATI x700 256mb which you can have.both agp btw
