F-86 Missions

So, I’ve been watching many YouTube videos and reading stuff that may as well have been written in Greek at first, but I have been able to pull together missions with randomisations and I will not be able to tell you what will happen with regards to fighters, or spawning…it’s all up to the scripts which are beyond my control.

Then, once all objectives have been completed and we’ve been able to return to base and park up together the mission will end and another will start.

At the moment they are based around the F-86, but the principle can apply to other aircraft.

They’re built around a base map with AAA and a basic layout with other trigger zones…so it’s all a bit fluid.

So it’s the Bluish forces against Redistan and the insurgents with the F-86’s against Mig-15’s, and maybe some others…

Yep, I’ve put together three missions so far. They’re going to need some testing and ironing out of any problems - which is a little difficult to do on my own, but we’ll see how it goes :slight_smile:

I’ll have to have a look at that. For now I have done it around the Georgia map as though the Bluish come from Georgia and the Redistani’s are from Abkhazia, with the backing of Russia…

I could add Mig-15’s to our side too, if people wanted them.

As things stand the missions include:

[/li]I’m sure I can come up with plenty more! I might even get cruel and start to introduce the odd SAM site!

First test results:
[ul][li]Mission 1 works, but the ‘End mission’ Trigger did not - I will look into this over the weekend.[/li][li]Mission 2 works, but my game crashed (it was the Beta version of the game and not the stable release), I’ll see how it goes after the update; planned for this weekend. However, the randomisation script worked and Mig-15’s spawned in to patrol the target area.[/ul][/li]We did not get to Mission 3 or 4 as a result, these need testing.

For some reason the Briefings did not show, this made things a little awkward for people to know what was the aim of each mission. I’ll recheck these to ensure they are set right. Again, this may have been an issue with running the beta version rather than the stable release.

After that I was flying with Cappe, trying out some formation aerobatics with the P-51 and mixed formations with the P-51D and F-86F.

I’m going to host the missions again this evening but, to ensure we can all play, I’ll be running the 1.5.4 Beta which can be downloaded here.

This means we will all be on the same version. I think it is about 1.5Gb, and you will need to download the F-86F again (This does not impact on activations if you keep the stable version installed.) It seems that they didn’t release the update over the weekend. It seems to work fine though.

I read there wer quite some issues with the new beta. Why not stick with the official 1.5 version? What’s the benefit of the beta using the F86 other then the ability to change the controls when a multiplayer situation?

I’ll hang fire till the update is out, cant be arsed downloading 1.5gb just for a few missions. Will catch up wi you lot next week

Well, it’s a possibility, we don’t have to. It will depend who is on as last time we tried half had the beta (and had got rid of the stable release) and others just had the stable release, leaving us split.

I’m happy to do either - at the moment the only person using the Beta (that I know is coming) is Cappe. I just thought it might be easier. I can run the Stable release.

LOL, I got all three (2.0, 1.5 and the 1.5.4 beta) installed. It’s the one we all can join. Nevertheless I am glad you’re hosting a server and I will suit me to it. :slight_smile:

Ok, so I have gone through the flaws in the mission scripts - so it should now launch the next mission when the aircraft taxy off the runway and the mission objectives are complete. The zone for this is standard and is close to the runway so it’s not a mega taxy!

Main thing we need is a standard game version :slight_smile:

ED solved it for us by bringing it out for the standard version :slight_smile:
