~S~ All
I’m just wondering what you guys tend to fly, when you do, in DCS World?
I currently have:
[ul]
[li]A-10C
[/li][li]Blackshark 2
[/li][li]P-51D
[/li][li]Huey
[/li][/ul]
I’ve not been on it in some time and would probably need a great deal of assistance in getting going again (it’s been years), but I would be happy to get back to into if I have someone to play it with
Im waiting till DCS world 2 comes out to get into it. I have BShark 2 and F86. I will need a lot of help getting to grips with Blackshark…so if you have the time
I can just about remember the start up sequence! I’ve not got them installed at the moment but that’s something that I can quickly get corrected! I can’t remember how to use the targeting systems very well, though at one time I had cracked that. I found the Huey a bit easier as it was point and shoot!
You have a fair few then!!! I remember trying to learn the A-10C but I couldn’t put up with the ‘instructor’ it was so dull! I feel like I wasted my money on that one! The Blackshark I was shown how to do things and it was far better - though it was the first helicopter that I tried. I found the Huey easier to hover!
~S~ All,
I’ve set DCS World downloading, I’ll try and get it installed and running, but I will not be online with it until after I get back. I’ll happily try and fly it with you folks though when I get the chance to
tested it a lot with great satisfaction in these days!
P51
Dora
Kurfurst
really like it!
still needed:
stronger netcode
WWII map (have doubts on normandy for this planeset…)
better damage model ( machine gun explosion sprites seems coming directly from a commodore 64:rolleyes:)
Flew with Storm, he learnt me startup procedure for the P51.
Satisyfying flight model of course, problematic 6DOF for me, my trackir does not like the sim. Need less sensetive settings. Kept jumping in and out of focus on buttons, moving all axis all over the place.
Does it exist incremental zoom? I only found MAX and MIN zoom, extremely impractical.
I shot down Storm, damage model looked awkward, probably due to netcode or lag. Suddenly he bounced up in a spiral and his plane jinked, just from a small burst that knocked his aileron off. Looked like a small lag delay in server receiving damage info and sending it to the local player.
Then my engine quit, and I did my first ever landing in the sim, in the p51 and with a dead stick landing. I had no buttons for flaps, radiator, brakes or feather prop…so I had to land fast and with a steep nose angle. Then I ran out of runway but just slow enough to stay on me wheels.
I flew with Storm as well yesterday. We flew the jets and I noticed the same lag and warping that you saw.
I was looking behind at Storm in his F15 shooting at me in my Su25T(cool plane!) and saw him jump all over the place. Not realistic at all!
I finally have my HOTAS set up and the planes handle and fly very nice. Almost too nice. Perhaps I just to used to flying other combat sims. The jets seem solid, but the TF51 feels a little like the jet FM.
I have yet to find the zoom. But thats OK with me actually. As long as its the same for all players.
TIR4 is definately more sensitive, but thats adjustable in TIR software, so no problems.
I still think BOS and Cliffs has a better WW2 FM and DM
In my A-10C joystick file I have zoom set to a rotator (ANT IIRC), but I haven’t set it for any other plane. The need for different joystick files is a negative with the different DCS planes, but I can understand why it is like that.
The little I have flown online, I haven’t notices any bad cases of warping, but they have changed DCS world more then once since I last flew.
Strange… For me it has the best 6dof implementation so far… the feeling is of being just in the cockpit.
I use slow zoom in and out and it works great and feels natural (as natural can be a zoom…) Only problem is on fw190 and 109 on max FOV out has too much panoramic vision IMHO…)
Netcode and damage models are horrible! Weak point of the sim!
I got almost all the modules, but frankly didn’t dare to touch the A-10 as much due its complexity. The Huey is an other thing. I do like it but my landings :sucks:
The Mig 15bis is a very nice little beast to fly with a nice punch of his cannon
I have to say I am getting into DCS now. It’s just not one to fly on your own, you don’t learn much and you’ll get shot down quickly (which I anticipate happening a lot anyway for quite some time!). I appear to have difficulty in deciding on a single aircraft to fly, I can manage the F-86 and P-51D, just about. Now I’m on to the Ka-50 and it’s starting to get a bit more technical with guided misslies and systems…on the plus side though you have a navigation system that shows you where you and your flight are and, if you can get the data link to work, where the targets are
