Hello all,
Anyone planning on attending any of the Duxford airshows this year?
Obviously there is the usual Flying Legends show in July (11-12 July) to look forward to http://www.iwm.org.uk/events/iwm-duxford/flying-legends-air-show
BUT, with this year being the 75 Anniversary of the Battle of Britain, the Duxford BoB September Anniversary Show (19-20 Sep) http://www.iwm.org.uk/events/iwm-duxford/the-battle-of-britain-anniversary-air-show could also be pretty special - and possibly the last ‘big’ anniversary event where you might meet the last of the remaining ‘Few’.
What does everyone think? Anyone going to Legends? The September show? Or both even?
And if we have a few guys planning on going - EAF get-together/meet-up?
I will quite probably attend one of them, no plans yet though
for sure i’ll go on 11-12 July… i’ve already booked flight tickets!
Ill take a look… I really want to go, but depends on leave.
I will know in June if I can make the July dates.
I really want to go but haven’t booked anything.
So, any difference between the ordinary July shows and the September 75 anniversary?

No list of attendees yet for either. Flying Legends will obviously be the usual big European warbird meet - with the Fighter Collection (Spits, Bearcat, P-40, Sea Fury etc) at the heart of it.
The September one (I would guess) there might be more of an effort to get Spits, Hurris, the BBMF (obviously) perhaps the flyable Blenhiem Mk1, maybe an original 109 along with some current RAF aircraft (Typhoon, Red Arrows) to mark the anniversary.
Either one will be fantastic!
Flash I could possibly make either event but I must submit the dates as annual leave if I am rostered on working. The sooner I submit the dates the more chance I have of attending. But I certainly will not be granted leave for both events.
Well I’ve taken the plunge and applied for leave on the Legends weekend (July 11th-12th)
Flying Legends it is then!
(No extra details I could find. Judging by some other stuffs I found - aircraft for other air shows are still being booked as we speak)
Got to check my shifts first but I’d like to bring my son.
Here is a pretty good write up from a regular antendee from overseas.Well worth a read if you are a local too.
